Miss Modular Oval.

I haven't thought about them in awhile, but they might be worth looking into. They did a killer remix of "Happy Ending" on Pizzicato Five's "Happy End of You" album.

iron mitchell i suspect caroliner will tour again considering they've released some new stuff in the past year or so, but i haven't seen any dates.
as for what bands i'm in, there's a thread i started just below this one that goes on and on about the subject.
Jun 16th, 2006 09:51 PM
Jomb yeah, any label you try to put on them falls short. I saw them live twice, and those are by far the best 2 shows i ever been to. I wish i knew if they were touring again ever because i would drive great distances to see them, but information on them is so hard to come by.
What band are you in?
Jun 16th, 2006 09:36 PM
iron mitchell i adore caroliner rainbow. i've played many a show with them.
i'd actually say caroliner may fit somewhere into noise-rock, just not sure where. those guys are way too "out-there" to even bother describing.

Jomb I saw them live once on accident, i did'nt even realize it was a band, i thought it was just some guy messing around with the PA system before the show started! I actually like my 7" of them much better.
My all-time favorite band, Caroliner, could be considered noise-rock, at times. I dont think thats an adequate label for them though.

iron mitchell i put out some cock esp material and must say that even i can't make it through the majority of their releases.
an experience best left live and unrecorded.

Jomb The noise band i've been greatly enjoying lately is Cock ESP. I got the Super Noise Penis ep playing. They are more noise than rock though.

Krythor I LOVE the Goslings but I really wouldn't consider it something Rongi would be looking for if his starting point is Sonic Youth. It's too slow and droney (not that it's drone) to be that ROCKING, I think.

Noise rock really doesn't mean anything, but from Rongi originally mentioning Sonic Youth you kind of know what you're in for, and since Sonic Youth are influenced by No Wave you can start off by listing those bands to begin with.

Since Arab on Radar and Melt-Banana are also largely no wave influenced I think they're fair game too.

Still, I know what iron is saying and I appreciate his contributions. There's a few on that list that I'll be looking up.

noob3 primus is noise rock

executioneer it's threads like this that make me appreciate putting all music in proper categories rather than just enjoying it
Jun 15th, 2006 09:23 PM
noob3 i hope to god you're really leaving, because we really don't need pompous assholes like you calling bands like zeni geva a noise band.

why don't you go listen to your "noise bands" you patsy fuck. and i'll listen to my good, obviously not noise bands like arab on radar. and thank fucking god they're not classified as "noise" by fucks like you, i don't think i'd like them nearly as much
Jun 15th, 2006 09:16 PM
iron mitchell seriously, i should be able to ban people. that's all there is to it.
if you still think "noises" (or nosies?) have much of anything to do with "being a noise band", then you're fucking lost.
end thread...
er, end board.
Jun 15th, 2006 08:30 PM
noob3 hey guys any metal band that has nosies is a noise band lol

converge is a nosie band lol

omg yanni has "noises" it's a NOISE BAND GUYS
Jun 15th, 2006 08:28 PM
noob3 i have three zeni geva cds that i bought in like REAL LIFE

desire for agony, 10,000 light years & total castration. it's like metal with psychadelic tendencies man

if you're going to call zeni geva noise, i can list a 1000 bands that also go under "noise"
Jun 15th, 2006 08:24 PM
iron mitchell either you haven't heard these bands outside of an mp3 or two (likely) or you don't have half a clue of what you're talking about (obviously).
and stop calling any of this noise, faggot. it isn't.
Jun 15th, 2006 08:14 PM
noob3 iron you suck if you think six finger or arab on radar arn't noise.

calling zeni geva noise? haha you're a fucking pompous idiot you might aswell list isis

re:

the only bands mentioned that i'd even fathom being noise rock are d yellow swans (good pick, really), sonic youth (first few albums only), the boredoms, and lightning bolt.

most of the other stuff isn't noise-y at all.

noise ROCK (remember, it has to rock?)...

hair police (particularly earlier stuff, whereas the newer stuff leans into more creeped soundtrack vibes)

live skull (an old fave.)

ground zero (well, if the boredoms are fair game...)

harry pussy (the official noise-rock band, dudes)

no docters (particularly live, when they're less controlled. their cover of bruce springsteen's "jungleland" is to die for.)

white mice (maybe noise-metal would be more appropriate?)

vibracathedral orchestra (much more psych/drone-influenced but also definitely appropriate for the list)

the goslings (a newer band, also sometimes dipping into psychedelic waters)

unsane (i don't think i've listened to these guys since high school, but i'm going to trust my memory.)

hijokaiden (overrated, in my opinion, but definitely a good band)

the coughs (playing with these dudes and dudettes soon. can't forget them.)

fushitsusha (a little less rockin', but a necessary listen)

mindflayer (much more noise-oriented than LB)

parts & labor (they vary from time to time, but overall i'd fit them in)

wolf eyes (when they're not doing creeper jams)

acid mothers temple (i'd say some of the more searing AMT material would fall under this genre)

zeni geva (another i haven't heard in at least 7 years)

magik markers (even though i'm not terribly fond of them)
