Well, sure, we do agree with them on some issues. But we agree with conservatives on more.

Don't get any ideas, though. I dislike conservatives just as much as the next guy. Be they neocon or paleocon.

The libertarians you are talking about are the paleolibertarians, such as Lew Rockwell. They usually argue for libertarianism on moral grounds, which is why they are more receptive to moralistic conservatives.

I'm suprised you didn't mention foreign policy.

Perndog Liberals and conservatives both suck. So do Democrats and Republicans. And Greens and Reformers.

Yeah, that's always been a huge hindrance on my life.

Bobo Adobo I think you want to switch "liberals" with "Democrats" because eventhough Democrats tend to be more Liberal politicians, they are concervative when it comes to things like gun control and whatnot. Libertarians however are all about gun ownership, and they bash SS all the time.

The One and Only... What you said about conservatives is true.

But liberals do the same thing.

You said conservatives want to "control our personal lives, muscle religion into state affairs, and even increase the number of ways they can spy on us."

Well, liberals want to control our personal lives (think social security), monitor our weapon ownership, and even force racial quotas on society.

Let's also not forget that liberals tend to try and make us join unions.

We may not like conservatives on some issues, but at least we agree with them on one field.

Libertarians and Modern Liberals

(NOTE: I had to put the word "modern" in front of liberal in the subject line because OAO was bound to make a smug comment about how libertarians are classic liberals.)

Why is there such hostility among the libertarian set against liberals, yet next to none against conservatives? Granted, most liberatarians are in favor of laissez-faire, but that's generally the only issue they disagree on when compared to a modern liberal. Meanwhile, modern conservatives have been attempting to control our personal lives, muscle religion into state affairs, and even increase the number of ways they can spy on us. You'd think they'd attract more negative attention than they do from these lovers of "personal freedom."

My conclusion? Vinth and Boortz are just crypto-conservatives posing as libertarians. Yeah, the OAO is, too.
