Right. Like worrying about the township's police going tricking you into adding them to your friends list so they can spy on you (this perk only works if you're still underage).

That's a specious example.

You get that on other websites also. I've got a ton of people on my friend's list on this other site I belong to, but I don't really care. They don't bother me and it's not like you can get into any mischief on the site. Also, my family and relatives are either not technologically savy at all or don't care what I do, so I don't worry much about online spying.

ZeldaQueen Yeah, but that's them posting pictures of someone else. If you're going to post pictures of stupid/illegal stuff, don't be in the picture yourself.

Evil Robot YUM brands (KFC) caught a bunch of employees bathing together in a sink meant for cleaning chicken. They had posted the pictures online and even gave them tags that linked them to the store they worked in.

Maybe those people have alternate personalities over the internet?

Another stupid thing about Facebook is that it's another chance for the kids in school to get caught doing stupid things like underage drinking or setting a garbage can on fire or something. You'd think if you did those things the last thing you'd do is put pictures of it online. Oy. Plus, isn't it common knowledge now that employers look at potential employees' Facebook and Myspace accounts to make sure they weren't up to mischief? Or was that colleges that do that? Anyway, it's stupid.

kahljorn I'm still roman. Don't you know, the empire never ended. We are still in the iron prison. SIXTY YEARS AGO MARKS THE DEATH OF CHRIST.

Evil Robot You know what I like? EBAY. Back when I was a Roman (yes, I am thousands of years old thanks to a pretty one-sided deal I made with satan) I would have simply purchased the people I hate. I could then have them executed for breaking my fine crystal glasses.

Nothing up on marinara sauce and baking cookies!

I stay away from Facebook and Myspace solely on principle. I think they're ridiculous. I also hate how it was virtually the only method of communication between people in high school. The president of the AFC insisted on making a Facebook account for our club so we could remember what events we had planned (half of the stuff never even happened). I missed the spork event because they only announced it on Facebook (didn't even throw random handouts in the stairwell). I hate that site.

Evil Robot Is it me or are social network sites nothing more than image hosting services with message boards?

MetalMilitia These sound like think you realised as a result of using Social BOOKMARKING sites. Hope this helps.
Feb 20th, 2009 05:12 PM
kahljorn do you mean conspiracy theories are real in that, ie, 911 was really orchestrated by our government and the illuminati or that people actually write them and adamantly believe in them?

cause if its the later i totally understand that shit ;o ;o

McClain Maybe I should change the title of this thread? I'm not speaking specifically of NETWORKING sites but social NETWORKS.

No one learns anything that important from networking sites aside from others top 25 favorite smells.

I agree. I have family all over and they love facebook and my space. They think it is the only way to stay connected. Makes me wonder what happened to the phone, email, snail mail and just the simple joy of driving somewhere for a visit.
