MLE i'm bidding on ebay for some. if i get it used off ebay, i should probably be able to get a little graphire for $30, and i'm trying to get a 6"x8" intuos, but i won't pay more than $70 cause it's ebay.

if i get more than i need, i'll definetly resell for, like.. 10 bucks more than my final price of it. if that happens, i'll post it in classifieds.

glowbelly i have a little wacom and it saves my ass when i'm trying to do some detailed photo manips. it was cheap, like less than $100, and came with a mouse that sucks, but it works for me. sometimes i have to restart my computer if i'm using it too heavily in photoshop because for some reason the positioning seems to get f'd up, but otherwise i've had no problems with it.

Immortal Goat I have one, it's pretty good. Don't judge the product by my art, though, cuz it's all done in Flash, so it isn't the best stuff out there, as you have noticed. Still, it responds nicely and is decently priced (Same as the price of Supa's)

Supafly345 My graphire3 was the smallest one and is around $100. But you will probably be able to find a deal if you shop at electronic stores, rebates and the like, since the people who gave it to me said that in the end it cost them $50.
But the limited space on the smallest doesn't give the easiest time as putting in detail, so if you can afford it, go with the bigger sizes by all means.

MLE i just got the most insane offer, which is a wacom graphire 1(starting model) for $20 if the guy's sister doesn't get it.

i spent last night talking to the australian artists that i know, cause noone in the states was online at 4am, and my friend said that the best model he knows of for starting would be a wacom graphire 2, size a5, which is 6x8.

he told me that the other tablets from other companies, especially aiptek, have a lot of software issues with the drivers and all. he said they crash a lot.

generally you're looking to spend $100 at minimum. the one that i eventually want, which is a wacom intuos size a5 is $330, and what a lot of professionals use.

the two main differences between the graphire and the intuos are the intuos has twice the sensitivity levels (which are very hard to discern between) and the angle of the pen affects the way the line looks on the intuos.

my friend said that it's a good idea to get a little model first to get used to it, but if you happen to have the money for an intuos a5, and you're a serious artist and planning on making money selling work and all, then just get the intuos a5.

pjalne How much do these things cost? If they're affordable, I'd like one myself.

Supafly345 My computer art teacher said that Wacom was the best when it came to the price/preformance ratio.

i want a wacom ;<

i've been thinking about it, and i really would like a wacom tablet. i've also seen aiptek and another type out on the market. i wanted to know if anyone on here, newbies included, know anything at all about the differences between wacom, aiptek and any brand they've seen.

also, if by any chance, a poster has one they'd like to rid themselves of... ;<
