homoperfect | Considering the silence that was kept with in the church and that the church was anti-semetic it's self, It didn't do quite enough. I do think that the end results of this tragedy have worked on behalf of positive christian/jew relations. Although, I must admit, There are times that I wish the church would keep just as silent. |

I think it's blatantly obviouse that NOBODY did enough, but maybe that's being over reactionistic to you. I haven't read "Hitler's Pope", but as you know, there are some pretty damning claims against him. I also know there was a commission in the late 90's, made up of both Catholics, and Jews, which according to preliminary reports, also came up with some harsh conclusions. I do find it suspect that the Vatican wouldn't open their archives so they could continue their report to a conclusion. That said, I'm also aware that the claims he "didn't utter a word" are a little bit off. My understanding is that he did do a great deal more then he's given credit for. It would have been great if he excommunicated Hitler before he died, and I really wish his roll was less ambigious, or even diplomatic, so that he could have provided a greater reaching message of outright condemnation. |

Hey ABC This is an honest question, but I admit that I see you as overly reactionistic. How do you view Pius XI? Particularly, do you think he did enough or too little in regards the Jewish plight during the Holocaust? |
