Emu 8 was far too anime'd out.

I've been playing MM4. I find this game to be the gayest of the NES series.

timrpgland I have a SOTN wall scroll so I'm cool or something.

I liked the X games (only played through X1-X5) and especially X. I think my favorite Mega Man game is actually Mega Man 8 oddly enough

Emu Earthbound Zero has the best music of any NES game, ever

Perndog Mega Man music was consistently awesome up to the death of the NES. Now it's sometimes awesome and sometimes blah. See Mega Man 7 and 8 in particular. Way too J-Pop sounding. Castlevania music has always been consistently awesome. And even on the NES, there wasn't nearly as much Castlevania as Mega Man, but it was just cooler.

Seven Force Mega Man, especially the X and Zero series (remastered zero tracks that is)

Angryhydralisk Considering how much I love both series (and their soundtracks over ANY other video games soundtrack save Doom, Resident Evil, and Goldeneye)...Castlevania.

Seriously, the old games have some good tunes but ever since SotN came out, just about every game has had a fantastic soundtrack (Except Harmony of Dissonance and maybe the butt-rockin' Curse of Darkness).

kahljorn I'll have you know I've fucked women to the castlevania soundtrack many times
May 27th, 2007 10:30 AM
darkvare castlevania owns everyother soundtrack nothing can fuck with the classic vampire hunter tune or the whole simphony of the night soundtrack

Protoclown Yeah, but I don't have a SNES. I have a Wii with a Wavebird controller.
May 26th, 2007 06:53 PM
Emu It's better on the SNES. The controller was made for that game.

Protoclown Looks like I can get the Mega Man X Collection for the Gamecube for only about $10...I might just have to check that out.
May 26th, 2007 06:29 PM
kahljorn yea. Like I said ive only played the first one really, but it's cool because he gets fun upgrades. Probably the coolest upgrade besides the one you get near the end-game is these things that go on his feet so he can slide and jump really far and also climb up walls and stuff like that. I think you also get armor upgrades... they are upgrades left behind by that dr. guy.
and there's a weapon upgrade you get towards the end of the game which makes it so you can charge your weapon (so you don't just shoot little orange balls out all the time). I think you can charge it before that too, though, but only half-way. Once you get the weapon upgrade at the end of the game though you can charge it till it turns pink and it shoots out a super attack. After you get that you can also charge all of the weapons you get from the robot bosses. So, for example, you can charge the chameleon's weapon and it will make you "Chameleon-like" and when you're in that state you can't be hit by an attack (I think if you attack it goes away, though). With the wind robots guy you can shoot out crazy tornados. The armadello guys can be charged so it turns into a shield which deflects shots. You end up needing all that stuff to get through the last few levels.
i always thought it was really fun.

Emu It's exactly the same setup, except that Mega Man has a generally wider range of abilities and the plots are less cartoony.
May 26th, 2007 01:43 PM
Protoclown To be honest, I've never played a Mega Man X game so I don't know anything about them. I've seen bits and pieces of one of them though and didn't care for the graphics or design.

Is it still the same basic setup as the old Mega Man games, where you fight individual robot bosses after going through their own stages, or no?

And the fact that even even if you saved the game with the refill tanks full, they woud be fucking emtpy the next time you load the save
May 25th, 2007 07:47 PM
kahljorn I never played past the first X... I played another megaman x game for like 5 seconds which reminded me of almost a platform/fighter. I think that might've been x4.

I just liked all the upgrades you could get for megaman that's pimp shit. Plus the fact that every weapon you got could be charged into a super weapon was awesome.

Zomboid Same here. Really enjoyed X1-3.
May 25th, 2007 01:42 PM
kahljorn I liked Mega Man X.

RaNkeri Mega man for fuck sakes! The series has some of the greatest musics ever, especially I - III. Bubble man stage, Top man stage, Wood man stage, Quick man stage etc. They all fucking pwn
May 25th, 2007 01:23 AM
Protoclown Agreed. Fuck Mega Man X. I got no interest in any of that shit.
May 25th, 2007 12:25 AM
Girl Drink Drunk Megaman VII had a pretty solid sountrack, too. I think during the intro, they remixed the music from MM II's intro, and (later) the Guts Man theme.
I know fanboys are going to eat me alive, but the X series was fucking overrated, along with the music. Classic Megaman all the way!

BANNED!

I think both series are really fucking close honestly, but Mega Man 2 and 3 really cinch it for me. The first Dr. Wily stage from Mega Man 2 CANNOT BE STOPPED, TOPPED, OR DROPPED!
May 24th, 2007 11:27 PM
Schimid Mega Man, I'd say. The first one didn't have any really memorable tunes, but 2 and 3 were absolutely phenomenal.

Castlevania, eh.

Dr. Boogie Just get Meridian. That way, you can listen to NES music sans emulator.
