10k Days After listening to this album I seriously have to wonder if Tool have been listening to anything else besides their own back-catalouge for the past five years. I can't believe they still think they're still being innovative by having long tracks and playing in "weird" time signatures. 3 minutes of palm muted power cords in 7/8 or whatever is still boring. This is 75 minutes of no songs and no riffs to speak of. It doesn't even sound like rock and roll to me anymore - It's too meticulous and clean. There's nothing raw about it. I am thoroughly disenchanted with this band. Aenima was cool though, wasn't it? I should probably change my username but I really hate registering for these things. |

Fathom Zero | Well then, by your standards, I'm about 1/2 deaf in my left ear.

Anyway I'm sick of talking about my deafness. The new album is great but need few more listens to allow myself to sink in. I agree with proto about the first two tracks being the best of the album. |

Protoclown | Aside from the first two tracks, this new album is a total SNOOZEFEST

Fathom Zero | Yesterday, Hastings in town had a Midnight release party, where from ten to twelve everything used was 30% off. Awesome deal, not much of a Tool fan, though.

Deadendz...it's pretty much like that for me too. For every tool album it takes a few listen for me to allow myself to get morphed into the music in full mode. I'm buying this album tomorrow. Woot. |

I think Vicarious sounds like generic Tool-nothing new, nothing old. I have yet to "Legally Acquire" anything else off of their new album. |

after numerous listens...in various environments, during various times of day, and in various mental states (no, not drugs...more like happy, angry, betrayed, sad, etc) I can say with 100% confidence that 10,000 days is a great album. At first, I did not really "get" it, it sounded like an over-thought rock album that was trying to achieve the glory of the band's earlier releases. I couldn't have been more wrong. This album will blow your mind if you listen to it from start to finish. As much as I searched for reasons not to like it, and as much as I claimed that it was boring, a rip-off of earlier albums, or anything of that nature...the more wrong and pathetic I began to feel. Those were my initial reactions to the album which I maintained until ealier this week...then somehow it all made sense and I actually felt like the music was transporting me to a higher state of musical understanding. I give it 5/5 as compared to all their other albums which I give a 4/5 |

It's a good album, much different than their other one's despite what Vicarious may have depicted. It sounds jazzy and tribal. Some of their songs even sound like Godspeed. |

New Tool album - 10,000 days If you want to hear it before you buy it, it's here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/mmz0si (might take a few tries before you can get it, but it is verified as the new album) |
