mew barios | eh fridges only have a couple liquid ounces of delicious refridgerant. people bust those lines all the time trying to defrost their freezer with a pick or somethin. i guess it's possible you could be injured seriously :o but i doubt it. buying a new fridge will prolly be the harshest blow. they were still making fridges with r-12 well into the 90s i thought. not that it matters really :o jus musing. | |

Speaking from experience with refrigeration, you should really considers opening a few windows and airing your place out. That stuff wont kill you right away, but it is a lot like getting carbon monoxide poisoning. BTW: theres about 700 cubic feet of R-134 (not freon) floating around you now. |

HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Potential Health Effects Inhalation of high concentrations of vapor is harmful and may cause heart irregularities, unconsciousness or death. Intentional misuse can be fatal. Vapor reduces oxygen available for breathing and is heavier than air. Liquid contact can cause frostbite. HUMAN HEALTH EFFECTS Overexposure by inhalation may include temporary nervous system depression with anaesthetic effects such as dizziness, headache, confusion, incoordination and loss of consciousness; or possibly with gross overexposure (>20%), temporary alteration of the heart’s electrical activity with irregular pulse, palpitations or inadequate circulation. Eye or skin contact with the liquid may cause frostbite. Individuals with preexisting diseases of the central nervous or cardiovascular system may have increased susceptibility to the toxicity of excessive exposures. Carcinogenicity Information None of the components present in this material at concentrations equal to or greater than 0.1% are listed by IARC, NTP, OSHA or CGIH as a carcinogen. FIRST AID MEASURES INHALATION Immediately remove to fresh air. Keep persons calm. If not breathing, give artifical respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician. SKIN CONTACT Flush with plenty of water. Treat for frostbite if necessary. EYE CONTACT Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water. Call a physician. INGESTION Ingestion is not considered a potential route of exposure. Notes to Physicians Because of possible disturbances of cardiac rhythm, catecholamine drugs, such as epinephrine, should be used with special caution only in situations of emergency life support. ------------------------------------------------------ http://msds.dupont.com/msds/pdfs/EN/...2f800070bc.pdf Its a good thing you didn't eat it! |

As a brilliant man once said: HOLY FUCK!!! IT BURNS!!! I ruptured the Freezers Freon tube thingy in my Freezer while cleaning it out, and got a high compressed jet of Freon gas in my face. My eye is twitching like crazy, and is fucking itchy on the inside, and I can't fucking SCRATCH IT!!! Freon is dangerous right? |
