tenno oh yeah POD i like one song from 3 albums.
Apr 30th, 2003 05:23 AM
tenno Creed those pretentious assholes, I hate them even more when people expect I listen to them cause I'm Christian and so (supposedly) are they.

Godsmack, from the other end, I can stand they're craptastic music, regurgitated shit stains on toast is a better thing to hear. The fact that they whine about how Wiccan they are makes me LOL.

Linkin Park: I like them sorta, i like they're instrumental tracks but dammit the album was so overplayed that i cant bear to hear them.

MeSELLOUTICA: Bastards! Thje black album was the last great one, then they got full of themselves.

Ja Rule, Jay Z, Nas, DMX and dammit Cypress Hill is pissing me off too.

ANd I love Cypress Hill.

you deserve something very bad for that

Grazzt I'm seconding the Led Zepplin thing. I don't know how such a clusterfuck of inept guitarists and bad lyrics can be considered revolutionary.

Cap'n Crunch If you read Rongi's other posts, he LOVES The Beatles.

It's a damn good thing I don't know where you live .

Cap'n Crunch Skulhedface sucks, so does Phil Collins.
Apr 21st, 2003 01:21 AM
Skulhedface I like em.

Sorry about the shortness of this post, but there's not really that much to say...

I like Bad Brains and Dead Kennedys better though.
Apr 21st, 2003 01:15 AM
Generator86 Skulhed, I'm afraid to admit that we have a fuck of a lot in common when it comes to music. What's your stance on the greatest band of all time, Bad Religion?
Apr 21st, 2003 01:00 AM
Skulhedface I can make this really easy. Any band played during peak listening hours on the radio, or any band that gets played more than three times a day, and all three times the song is the same one.

FEW exceptions of course (Evanescence in particular stands out, I will never get tired of hearing Amy Lee's voice ) but for the most part, it's sadly true.

re:

bands listed by others that i at least partially like...

guns 'n roses, phil collins, led zeppelin, weezer, the village people, flaming lips, blink 182, the doors, and the travelling willburys.
Apr 19th, 2003 06:52 PM
Generator86 The only GNR worth listening to is, cliched but true, Appetite for Destruction. Maybe one or two songs off Lies. That double album they put out was god-awful horrible.

By the way, the Doors also sucked. Jim Morrison was just another drugged-out "poet" and their music, while some could argue that it was original and inventive at the time, does not still stand up today.

Why hasn't anybody mentioned the Travelling Willburys or Damn Yankees? I fucking loathe over-the-hill "superstar" bands.
Apr 19th, 2003 06:17 PM
The Retro Kat Yup, good ol jam bands.

Ninjavenom Lately i've been getting pretty fucking sick of hearing about G 'n R.

Axl was a complete dickhole, and their music gets old when you're forced to hear it every time you visit your friend's house.

Miss Modular I'm going to have to join Kevin in the Phil Collins love.

No Jacket Required is a fucking classic. With songs like "Sususudio", "One More Night", "Don't Lose My Number", "Doesn't Anybody Stay Together Anymore", "Inside Out", and "Take Me Home", how can you lose? It was the soundtrack to my summer between kindergarten and first grade, and it's still my ultimate guilty pleasure.

I agree that his stuff from the last decade has really sucked, though. Otherwise...

PHIL COLLINS IS THE MAN

Bobo Adobo THe reasons the dead really didn't interact with audience later in their career is because they thought the audience went bad. Jerry complained that ever since they put out that horrible song "touch of grey" People started coming to shows not knowing what the Dead were all about, and only went because they thought it was the "cool" thing to do. He saw a lot of people get in fights and sell a lot of bunk drugs.

Phish never really tryed to do anything like the Band. Phish got most of there inspiration from Frank Zappa. DOn;t get me wrong im not to big of phish fan, but Iv'e been forced to listen to a lot of thier stuff at work and it reall doesn't remind much of the band. IN fact no Jamband really reminds of them, Jamsband get there influences from anything from the dead, zappa, Bill Monroe, Miles davis, and I could probably go on for years.

I think most of you people have to stop bitching about a bands politics and image and realize that there are still some bands that give a shit about the music.

The_Rorschach Kevin, allow me to show you a glimpse of the evil empire founded by the suck majesty himself.

EXIBIT A

PHIL COLLINS "Against All Odds (Take a Look At Me Now)"
With such competition for faggotry as Michael Bolton and Yani, it is pretty tough to write a song of unparalelled queerness, but if anyone can do it, Phil Collins is our man.

EXIBIT B

EXIBIT C

PHIL COLLINS "Dance Into the Light"
With instantly forgettable bland music, and lyrics like "Side by side we are not afraid/Because the train is coming to carry you home" gems like this leave you hoping someday Phil Collins will dance into the path of a speeding bus.

EXIBIT D

I rest my case.

Protoclown Man, jam bands suck.
Apr 17th, 2003 12:15 PM
Miss Modular I should have said it's the music most jam bands try to emulate. I was listening to some Phish song awhile ago, and it sounded an awful lot like "Up On Cripple Creek" (actually on The Band's second album).
Apr 17th, 2003 11:39 AM
sadie "jam" bands don't suck necessarily. some suck. some suck really fucking bad. i saw the dead many times, though, and i wouldn't place them in that category.

yah, they didn't speak much to the audience (one of my good friends has always criticized them for this), but they communicated shitloads, amongst themselves and with the hippie freaks rocking to their varying levels of insanity.

my ex used to play what i dubbed "the headache tapes" continuously. and though those bootlegs gave me teh migraine at times, i sometimes felt like a detective listening to their subtle clues foreshadowing the next song.

i'm glad i got the chance to experience them is all.
Apr 17th, 2003 08:20 AM
Bobo Adobo How can most "jambands" emulate one studio album? for one, jambands make shitty studio albums. The dead made really shitty studio albums, Jerry even admitted that. All they ever wanted to do is play live. If you REALLY want to hear the Dead pick up agood dicks picks or download a show.

Have you ever listened to Galactic, Yonder Mountain String Band, String Cheese Incident, Sonic Youth, and Widespread Panic?

There all shoved into that catagory of "jambands" but none of them sound anything alike. Hmm...Isn't that interesting?
Apr 17th, 2003 12:08 AM
Miss Modular Two pages and no mention of Journey? Boy did they suck balls. They have the most pompous, maudlin ballads, and Steve Perry has/had to be one of the least attractive and least charismatic frontmen in the history of Rock Music.

I know Carni's going to get mad (), but Creed also sucks. They're sorta like Journey, only Scott Stapp has some kind of God complex.

The Dead suck. They had a huge following at my high school. And yes, I have heard their music. And it sucks. Go pick up Music From Big Pink by The Band. It's pretty much the album most jam bands try to emulate anyway.
