Hmm, if it's windowed it should still cap a shot, then all you'd have to do is paste it into Paintshop or some other Paintprog, Achimp's got the right idea, a 3rd party cap proggie should do the trick, here is one i found (get the trail ver) http://www.imagespro.com/programs/1721/ I'll ask some of the guys from work and see if they got any idea's- |

Hmm... I haven't done a DOS screenshot for a long time. There are programs that you can get that will do it for you. You have to set up a key combination and leave the program running in the background. :/ I have no idea what the name of one of those programs is, though. I used to use an app that came with CorelDRAW! 3.0, but when Windows became too advanced for that, I stopped using it. EDIT: http://www.americansys.com/psd.htm This program might work. It's shareware, though, so I don't know what kind of limitations it has. You could always just search download.com for "DOS screen capture", though. |

This? Some of the pixels kept getting jumbled in the transfer so the stars had to be reconstructed. It gets stunned in a different frame depending on when you shoot it (in the game) so I don't know if this is the frame you wanted. |

Anonymous | she's looking for one of the yellow slugs in keen 4, knocked out, with stars over its head so it can be an animated gif.

MLE | good idea, but i'm looking for an animation of one of the enemies, but killed with the starrs above it's head.

Mike | What is the graphic that you want? I could try to extract the sprite graphics directly and bypass a screenshot altogether.

i've been trying to do that, but the closest i've gotten was in windows ME (which sucks), and it was scrambled. i have a dos prompt, but not an emulator. that's the only thing i haven't tried. the dos prompt won't let me play it in partial screen mode, either. |

Mike | Oops, I wasn't paying enough attn. Maybe if you open it in a dos emulator and run it in windows (partial screen) you might be able to get the printscreen button to work.

Mike | Is there an option in the game for taking a screenshot? In some dos games there's like a unique key combo for it.

Help with DOS screenshot i really wanted my avatar on here to be something from commander keen and i was going to make it and everything, but the only thing blocking my path is that i can't get a screenshot from the game because it's a DOS game, and i'm running it from a dos prompt. the "print screen" button doesn't work, and there's not option for taking screenshots internally in the game. i'm so sad and lost... |
