Aaarg Ooooh packin' a rod, sounds like my kind of thing!

Actually the Pacific Northwest roadtrip has been temporarily put on hold in favor of using my money to instead move to a place that will make me a happier person. And then next year I'll thru-hike the Appalachian Trail.

Either way, this gives me more time to find people I can bond with and maybe I'll even find somebody who I can make this trip with.

Big McLargehuge You should consider packing a rod and giving fishing a shot, you will be driving through the best fishing country in the u.s.

Aaarg I don't really fish. Nobody really did it around me while I was growing up. I went fishing last summer and it was fun, but it was just for bluegill and the like, out of some little pond in Canton, Ohio.

Somebody was talking about it at work yesterday, though. I guess they had just stocked a stream and "they were big motherfuckers, but of course there was a hundred other guys there."

What's the point? It's like the dudes who follow the truck from the fish hatchery. Come on.

Later this month, they're stocking one of the swimming pools around here so people can bring their kids (or old black men) to fish. Stuuuuupid.

Big McLargehuge Ugly stik's aren't that great. The action is all rubbery and who gives a fuck if they can bend really far? I use a Pflueger Echelon rod and reel combo.

Aaarg is it bad that my first thought upon hearing "ugly stick" is ugly stik - the fishing poles?

Guitar Woman I went to the Iditarod today.

I got to see a man wearing nothing but tennis shoes and tube socks near the home stretch! He was part of the "ANGRY BAKERS" team, who had a double shopping cart with metal tins inside that they used to mix bread dough and throw at everyone.

There was a ShamWow team, too; four guys in sombreros and Shamwow ponchos and one Vince, whose headset I stole.

b_squared Just saw this about Portland:

Iditarod, Portland-Style
The Portland Urban Iditarod isn’t quite like the one in Alaska. … Featuring barking humans pulling shopping carts from pub to pub, this annual event (March 14) is almost as much fun for spectators as it is for competitors.
