Royal Tenenbaum The parts I like about Rock 'n' Roll Animal are the straight ahead moments. I also dislike the solo shit and the definite over-extending of Lou Reed's abilities as a musician. The part were they solo at the end of Heroin make me .

VU 1992 does suck for all the reasons you listed and more.

Berlin is the shit, one of the best albums ever.

Drew Katsikas VU live 1992 was by far the worst album I've owned in the past 3 years. It was painful to listen to. I sold it the next day and picked up Berlin. It sucked mostly becuase Lou was so old and couldn't sing worth a rat's ass on the album. Every song was far weaker than any studio track, or even VU 1969. Ugh.

Rock N Roll Animal only sucks becuase I dislike it. I guess if you're into Boston or arena rock you might dig it. For me, it sounds like the coda to Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, Rock and Roll (Do you). I can't listen to that kind of stuff, especially when you take perfectly good VU songs and butcher them with ridiculously florid guitar presets and uncountable solos.

Royal Tenenbaum Well, both those albums at least had a track or 2 worth checking out. MMM is fairly brutal, but a classic none the less.

Drew Katsikas Well hell, I'd rather listen to MMM than Rock N Roll Animal, Or Velvet Underground live 1992. Blech.

Royal Tenenbaum It's actually only about 2:30 to 3:00 minutes long repeating. Lou Reed once said something along the lines of, "If anyone actually makes it to the end of MMM, then they are stupidier than me." Sad but true.

Drew Katsikas The first five minutes are rough, but after that you forget it's abrasive, it's just like listening to white noise, but instead of turning to channel 1, you have to pay money.

Royal Tenenbaum I actually started a thread about this on the old boards...

Yes, I have listened to the whole thing; I actually have the CD, because one came into the used CD store I work at and I can get stuff really cheap. I really doubt I'll ever listen to it again, but just in case I ever need to torture someone to get information it will come in handy.
