Aykroyd Hosts SNL

[center:8649a097a6]

"Jane, you ignorant slut..."
- Dan Aykroyd, SNL (1977-78)[/center:8649a097a6]
Original cast member Dan Aykroyd has never hosted SNL. Well, he gets his shot tonight (11:30pm ET on NBC) in the finale of what hasn't been one of the show's best seasons. Another reason to tune in: This is the last show for Chris Kattan and Tracy Morgan as cast members. Kattan is off to the movies; Morgan has a midseason sitcom on NBC.

Jixby Phillips The episodes that Eric Idle hosted were fantastic.

liquidstatik The best in my opinion are Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy and the motivational speaker sketches. I cant think of the sucky ones off the top of my head, but I know there's a few that I found rather unfunny.

Schimid Best Skit: The McLaughlin Group (Dana Carvey)

It's just so unbearably funny. I've yet to see the BOC with Walken, though, maybe I just don't remember it? :/

Colin Quinn is just an unfunny guy all around. His show "Tough Crowd" is okay, if only for Nick DePaulo (sp?)

NES Boy Best: None. Why? See below.

Worst: The one with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and some guy that lived in the sewers. I admit, the song the sewer guy sang is pretty sweet, but then they had to ruin the entire skit. How? Well, when Britney and the sewer guy are about to kiss and Justin calls Britney back up, they had to use the dreaded...

FROZEN MUSIC CURSE!!!

You've all heard it. There are countless commercials that are victims of it, mainly comedy show commercials that always freeze the music whenever they get to the punchline of a joke. It's so annoying how they keep doing it these days! And when SNL did it, I stopped listening to it. If I wanted to watch it, I could just use the mute button, laughing only at visual jokes, and not the spoken jokes. And it's all thanks to the cursed curse!!! That's why I have nothing in the "Best" category. Thank you for reading this rant.

Ah, back in the day when SNL had some balls left. Right before the Sandler/Farley explosion.

bartman the star wars screen tests were definitely great. richard freyfuss as C-3P0, "I told you I didn't want to wear the damn mask!"
the oops i crapped my pants commercial was good.
walken and the continental of course.
also when jeff daniels was a guest on the talk show hosted by chris elliot and they kept playing the clip of him having diarrhea in dumb and dumber.

there are too many bad ones to even get into. anything with molly shannon for a start.

jewishcarpenter The whole Charlton Heston show in '95
Jimmy Fallon - Nick Burns- Your Company's Computer Guy - "Oh it's the e-mail that's stupid, not you, right?", "They teach this type of stuff on Blue's Clues".
The only other times he really cracked me up were when he just started laughing at Will Farrell on the show.
Chris Farley - Chippendales Try-outs w/Patrick Swayze

Chris P. Bacon Also Kevin Spacey imitating Jack Lemmon and Christopher Walken doing a test screen for Star Wars was hilarious.

Scarlet Speedster I'm suprised nobody mentioned Chris Walken's "Continental" for best sketch; the one where it's shown from the POV of his date. Blue Oyster Cult still reigns supreme, though.

Royal Tenenbaum Yeah, Will Ferrel as Neil Diamon and as Harry Carey were always great. Those are the reason he is the man.

Daphne Fuck yeah, Tennis Talk was brilliant.

I like Molly Shannon
Apr 14th, 2003 03:15 PM
Jixby Phillips My favorite sketch (or at least concept for a sketch) was "Tennis Talk with Time-traveling Scott Joplin." They did that perfectly. I think that Scott Joplin should be a recurring character [/code]

Daphne I loved Sprokets, the Twin Peaks skit when Kyle MacLachlan hosted, Middle Aged Man, Will Ferrell doing Harry Carey, Goth Talk, Amy Poehler as the girl with one leg, the Blue Oyster Cult skit with Walken (brilliant) and TV Funhouse.

I know there's a bunch I'm forgetting.
