Rongi | My speakers are right next to my monitor and it's fine

Cap'n Crunch | Mine is from 1998. Everytime it gets real shitty I just use the reboot disc and it fixes it for a few months.

Esuohlim | The lines aren't a big problem for me. I learned to live with them. And I've had this computer since before the turn of the century, so I'm guessing it just turned into a worn-out piece of shit and I'm just going to have to replace it. :/

The problem just comes back, though. Speaker-monitors are kinda stupid. |

mesobe | Sounds like its just an old man monitor. New ones are so cheap these days.

Gurlugon | Can having your monitor degauss fix those lines? I just realized I have them. :/ My computer is an all-in-one model, and I haven't been using headphones lately.

AChimp | Having speakers near your monitor can do that. Having an old shitty monitor with a failing CRT can also do that.

Cap'n Crunch | Holy shit, I had those lines for about 2 years on my computer.

have you thrown, kept, or stored Magnets anywhere In, near, or on top of your monitor? This somehow reminds me of that movie when the chick has a cracked coffe mug and she puts it on her monitor whilst full and the some leaks into the monitor causing a HUGE fiery explosion sending shards of that megathick glass in her throat then burning down her house!!! |

I also failed to mention that I have streaks across my monitor. For instance, If I have a black square on a white background on my computer, the screen will show a faded grayish streak horizontal from the image. I've learned to live with that, but at least I fixed the darkness. I don't feel like dying much right now, so I'll just eventually buy a new monitor. Or computer all together. |

I've opened a monitor and messed with the insides. I even unplugged connectors and soldered stuff back together. :O I live on the edge. |

yeah your monitor is dying and there's nothing you can do about it unless you enjoy lethal electric shock (even when unplugged, most monitors have capacitors that can kill your ass dead and can hold that level of charge up to a year) -willie |

AChimp | Dark monitors are also indicators of fucked up cathode ray tubes. I know from experience.

I'm fucking glad I made this thread, and that you have Internet access so that you could tell me the stuff that I wanted to know. Or "thanks", if you want to be formal about it. |

phnompehn | Have you tried hooking it up to a different monitor?

You need to turn your gamma up. Usually to do this, you will need to minimize all windows. Right click your desktop, go to properties. Go to settings and it should be under the tab for your video card. They're pretty much all a little different, so you're just gonna have to look around, its not difficult. Note: This is if you're using a PC running Windows |

Computer Screen I apologize in advance for asking a possibly fucking stupid question. My computer displays everything dark. Really dark. I set both the contrast and brightness to their maximum settings and I still can't see some of the darker images. This seems to be a problem that has come up just recently as well, because I can't really play computer games anymore. I can't see anything. So what's the problem? Is there anything I can do about this? Goddamn my computer sucks. |
