pjalne When your job is to write posters or on-screen text or subtitle stuff, you'd think BEING ABLE TO FUCKING WRITE would be necessary to land said job. Thins kind of thing annoys the hell out of me, especially when the guy who subtitles The Simpsons doesn't get half of the jokes. Also, he doesn't understand any of the blackboard gags in the opening. Examples: 'Indian burns are not our cultural heritage' becomes 'Camp fires are not our cultural heritage', 'I won't use no double negatives' becomes 'I will not use double contradictions', and 'wedgie' suddenly seems to mean 'platform shoe'. He NEVER gets it right. I swear to god, I want to buy that channel just to fire him.

FS English. It's customary to subtitle everything here, except for most kids' shows.

AChimp Are they in English, or do they dub the shows over to Dutchese?

FS No, I mean the commercial showed a question on screen and there were answers A, B and C to choose from. These people who made up this question can't even spell the name Nicholson or the name of the movie that is the right answer.

The version of MTV we got here used to be the same shared with several other countries, among which the UK, so it was mostly Brittish English presenters with commercials in all kinds of languages. Now each country apparently has its own version, and ours has Dutch presenters and commercials. We do get a lot of the same shows as in America though, like Jackass and the Osbournes. They usually come on here a few weeks after they become popular in the US.

Rongi It would be even funnier if the person won

What's dutch mtv like anyway? Is it your version of mtv, or just ours translated?

A commercial for a contest about the movie Anger Management just came by on Dutch MTV. The question was for which movie Jack Nicholson won an Oscar. They spelled "Jack Nickolson" and "A few good man".

Some people could be executed on sight and no one would mind.
