ziggytrix | I didn't mean to imply 'Get Behind Me' belongs on the worst albums list or anything. Just that the White Stripes (and Coldplay too before anyone nominates those silly fucks) are terribly overrated, overhyped, and overplayed. Once or twice a week in the rotation is fine, but not 3 times a day like it was delivered down by the ghost of Jimi Hendrix himself as a gift to all rockers past and present, thank you very much. :D | |

re: i would've put the white stripes' new one in my "biggest disappointments" list just because of that godawful single (as well as a few other bad tracks on the album), but overall i don't think it's bad at all. besides, i really didn't have such high hopes for the album after hearing several TERRIBLE live bootlegs right before the album leaked. |

top contenders for album of the year so far? my picks, in order (i'm pretty sure these are all 2005)... 20. kinski - alpine static 19. exceptor - throne 18. a taste of ra - s/t 17. le fly pan am - 'n'écoutez pas' 16. dead machines - futures 15. majik - the human hand 14. mindflayer - die and mold 13. spires that in the sunset rise - four winds the walker 12. yuma nora - red train graphing the sunset of all 11. circulus - the lick on the tip of an envelope yet to be sent 10. wooden wand and the vanishing voice - lun marquer contre la moissonneuse 9. brothers of the occult sisterhood - run from your honey mind 8. panicsville - perverse 7. the north sea/xenis emputae band split 6. the skaters - dark rye bread 5. jane - berserker 4. orthrelm - ov 3. mountain goats - the sunset tree 2. davenport - field tales 1. six organs of admittance - the school of the flower plenty more awesome stuff that would normally make the list, but there's just been so much great shit already. hell, i could make a top 10 list of just new davenport-related releases. here are my biggest disappointments of the year so far (i actually enjoyed all of these but rarely listen to them, which is quite surprising)... devendra banhart - cripple crow black dice - broken ear record xiu xiu - la foret keith fullerton whitman - multiples the coughs - fright makes right |
