MetalMilitia No, but you should be able to tell that the card's fan is functioning.

Im reasonably sure the 6800 series comes with a core temperature sensor.

CrazyBlackDude Should I be able to easily feel the airflow from the card's fan?

Dr. Boogie It could be that the fan on the vide card is broken. That happened on my old GeForce 3 card, and stuff like that vertex error happened a bunch, until it finally just started freezing whenever I ran a DirectX program.

CrazyBlackDude I have a Geforce 6800 GT.

AChimp It can also be a software problem. Most likely the game has bugs.

MetalMilitia 6800s can put out alot of heat in graphically intensive games but with decent airflow and a reasonably clean HSF (Heatsink, fan assembly) the stock cooler should be just fine.

El Blanco a graphics card is almost its own motherboard. It has a processor and ram and all that stuff. When you tax it, it gets hot. What card is it?

And I don't know if an extra fan will help. It might, but you might be better off seeing if someone can sodder anothe rheat sink to it.

MetalMilitia Just touch the card's back and HSF and see if it seems really warm (if it burns your finger its most probably too hot). Also clean out any dust and crap clogging up the fan. Does your case have any kind of airflow? e.g. case extractor fans?

CrazyBlackDude Why would the graphics card overheat? It's pretty good... do I just need heat sinks or another fan or something?

MetalMilitia Looks like a vertex error, usually caused by your videocard's GPU overheating. Check if its running abnormally hot.

Besides that I take it you have the game fully patched and your video card drivers up to date?

Graphics problem with games

When I play Black and White 2 and Half Life 2, occasionally some model in the game will go crazy, like so:

I tried asking at the BW2 forum but they were rather incompetent, so I figured I'd try here because you guys are generally pretty intelligent. My graphics card is a Geforce 6800 GT.
