Bobo Adobo Damn, I would really like to listen to the Talented musicians you like.

Edit: Actually, By judging by number of your postsand you like type things like "LOL OUT LOUD " I can see how your understanding of what good music is may be damaged by you continuous exposure to the to all the other musically arrogant and lifleless people post constistantly about how there totally indy music is the best.

But there is a cure for you. I would suggest that first you put on some large studio headphones, turn the volume all the way up on your stereo and blast Sly and The Family Stone while having some real person(if you know any) shoots you with a nail gun loaded with very dull nails.

If this doesn't work, shoot yourself.

LOL OUT LOUD

And i'm not really even defending Joe Strummer or Tom Waits ( although both of them have more talent in their toe nails then every jam band combined ). Hell, if you replaced Joe Strummer and Tom Waits with Justin Timberlake and Sum41 I still would have laughed my ass off. It should be illegal for jam band fans to talk about musical talent in any way shape or form

Bobo Adobo Really? I haven't heard that one yet, but that Bo Diddley Medly looks pretty sweet. The rest of the setlist didn't look that bad either.

Royal Tenenbaum I was listening to Dick's Picks Vol. 30 today, and I must say, I still prefer their studio work.

Bobo Adobo Listening to some good Dead does not make you a Dead Head.

Being one of them nimrods who has vaults full archived Dead Shows and has seen 100-200 GD shows are Dead Heads. And yes those people do exist.

Royal Tenenbaum "Edit: If Anthem, Workingmans, and American Beauty are all you know the Dead by than you really need to do some more listening. Download a show Buy a Dicks Picks or something. Any dead head will tell you that you haven't heard the Dead until you have heard LIVE dead. "

I don't want to be a Dead Head.

Ah, calling me black. I guess that would make you the pot.

Bobo Adobo Im not denying they are great albums, Im just saying that they don't nearly represent what the Dead had to offer.

Edit: If Anthem, Workingmans, and American Beauty are all you know the Dead by than you really need to do some more listening. Download a show Buy a Dicks Picks or something. Any dead head will tell you that you haven't heard the Dead until you have heard LIVE dead.

Royal Tenenbaum No, they are fucking great albums. The only other Dead album I could give a shit for is Anthem of the Sun, and I guess that would be prog-jam or something.
Dec 3rd, 2003 01:26 PM
Bobo Adobo First off, The Dead are the godfather of all jambands. American Beauty and Workingmans Dead were folk and country albums. Im not sure what jambands you have listend to, but the genre pretty much covers every type of music you can listen to. Yes a lot of jambands suck, but a lot punk bands suck, a lot rock bands suck, alot metal bands suck, alot of jazz bands suck, alot of country bands suck, alot of fusion bands suck....you can go on for years about how many bands suck.

Plus if you honestly think WD and AB are the best Dead albums you either haven't listend to Wake of the Flood or Blues for Allah or your just one of them dumass writers for the Rolling Stone.

IF jamband music bores you you are a very sad person.

Rez i know someone, and their brother writes all this stuff.
it can be funny sometimes, it's just used to piss off the radiohead board people though.

i guess the funny part of this is that the writer likes all of these bands.

Protoclown Jam bands bore the ever living shit out of me. That's why they suck.
Dec 3rd, 2003 11:25 AM
Dole 'I hope you like our new direction....this is called jazz oddysey'.
Dec 3rd, 2003 09:48 AM
Royal Tenenbaum Grateful Dead aren't nessecarily a Jam band. American Beauty and Workingman's Dead, their two best albums, are both folk and country albums. But, jam bands do usually suck, unless they focus, and write some great tunes. GD has done that.
Dec 2nd, 2003 11:35 PM
Bobo Adobo It is true that most Jambands lack in songwriting(except for GDs lyricists Robert Hunter), but thats why they are more known for there musical compositions and there ability to turn a concert in to an actual "event" rather than some promotional gathering for band to sell overpriced crap and promote there music.

People also think JamBands are great because of there ability to improvise and the vast amount of talented musicians in the scene. Which is something rare In todays music. Whats so wrong with 15 minute solos and half hour songs anyway? the concept of songs being under 4 minutes comes from the time when record companies were trying to make money off of singles and throw crap on the radio.
Dec 2nd, 2003 10:48 PM
KevinTheOmnivore I don't care about their fans, other than the fact that they think their favorite music is some how the greatest artistic "experience" EVER. Why are they good, because they are so "diverse" and can withstand 15 minute long solos...? Where they over-compensate in music they severely lack in writing, which is a key part of the music for me....
Dec 2nd, 2003 07:20 PM
Bobo Adobo I would like to hear somebody say something intelligent on how bad jamband Music is, without refering to drug usage or the fanbase.
Dec 2nd, 2003 07:05 PM
KevinTheOmnivore Actually, no, they don't. But thanks for playing....
Dec 2nd, 2003 07:03 PM
Bobo Adobo The whole point to "something awful" is to make fun of things that large amounts of people like with a pation. By getting pissed off your just doing what the author wants you to do.

... and you can pick on Jamband fans rather than Tool fans (or any other dumn ass band fans), but at least they listen to better music.

Krythor Wether you agree with him or not, they're still totally humourless articles that shouldn't have been put up on a site like SomethingAwful in the first place. Christ, even the hate mail is boring.

Truth Media, on the other hand, was hilarious.

Royal Tenenbaum That guy should be shot in the back of the head for think "Games Without Frontiers" is a bad song. It's a fucking classic.
