Michael Jackson briefly hospitalized
Thursday, May 22, 2003 Posted: 9:06 AM EDT (1306 GMT)

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (CNN) -- Pop star Michael Jackson was briefly hospitalized Wednesday after becoming ill while on a trip to Indianapolis, his spokesman said.

Jackson was only in the hospital for a few hours, spokesman Stuart Backerman said, and was already on his way back to California by nightfall.

"He just didn't feel well," Backerman said. "He just felt weak and sort of dehydrated. He was feeling weaker and weaker as the day went on."

Jackson was in Indianapolis for a deposition in a copyright infringement and royalties case involving the Jackson Five, said Brian Oxman, the Jackson family's attorney.

While the physician hasn't yet diagnosed Wednesday's illness, Oxman said the stress of depositions often makes the singer feel sick.

"He's gone through hundreds of them in his life," Oxman said. "When he has to go through them, it upsets him, bothers him, he doesn't sleep, he doesn't eat, he gets dehydrated, and these kinds of things happen as a result."

No deposition was taken at all because Jackson became sick, he said.

The man suing Jackson is from the singer's hometown of Gary, Indiana, who is a "long-time family friend and associate," Oxman said. Jackson and his attorneys do not believe the man's claims have merit.

The royalties "are from old Jackson Five songs which were sung, and claims regarding who owned the copyright to those songs and who was it that should be receiving the royalties," he said.

Michael Jackson Visits Calif. Lawmaker
Pop Star Michael Jackson Visits Congressman's Office Then Makes Fast Food Run

The Associated Press

SOLVANG, Calif. May 21 —
Reclusive pop star Michael Jackson, wearing a red-and-blue Spider-Man mask, popped into a congressman's field office seeking an answer to a critical issue.

"How come Solvang doesn't have any fast-food restaurants?" the costumed Jackson asked Steve Lavagnino, deputy director in the new office of Rep. Elton Gallegly, R-Santa Barbara.

According to Lavagnino, the discussion about two weeks ago went like this:

After Jackson was told the only chain restaurant was a Subway sandwich shop, he said, "I love Taco Bell."

Solvang, about 140 miles north of Los Angeles, is a quaint village that bills itself as "the Danish Capital of America."

The 44-year-old singer then pulled his webbed-crusader disguise off his face and apologized for disturbing Lavagnino, although Jackson didn't know what kind of office he'd wandered into.

"I've seen you on TV," said Lavagnino, whose father, Larry, is the mayor of nearby Santa Maria.

"Don't believe everything you see on TV," replied Jackson, who isn't registered to vote in Santa Barbara County, but his sprawling Neverland Ranch is nearby.

After a few more pleasantries and an autograph, Jackson rode off in a black Bentley. Lavagnino's boss didn't believe his tale until he faxed him the signature.

"Elton laughed," Lavagnino said Monday. "It's very hard to top that visit. My first week in the office and I get the most famous person on the planet."

Jackson later was seen at a Taco Bell/Pizza Hut drive-through window in nearby Buellton.

After ordering two cheese pizzas, breadsticks, water and three chicken soft tacos, Jackson was spotted in the passenger seat. As his pizzas cooked, Jackson, face exposed, talked to employees and signed autographs, said Ana Torres, restaurant assistant manager.

"He was great," Torres said. "We all got his autograph. He talked to customers."

Jackson also had his son, Prince Michael, with him, she said.

"He had blond hair, he was really cute," Torres said.

JACKO GOES BACK TO BLACK

Wacko Jacko's kinky afro
By Tara Conlan, Daily Mail

He is legendary for his efforts to transform the looks that helped him find fame.

So it was something of a surprise to see Michael Jackson turning the clock back by more than 30 years at a 1970s themed party.

Guests gasped as the 44-yearold singer arrived at a Miami restaurant wearing a giant Afro wig, rhinestone-studded jacket and leather trousers.

The hairstyle was almost identical to the one he wore as the young lead singer of the charttopping Jackson Five in the early 1970s, performing hit songs such as I Want You Back, ABC and I'll Be There.

As his solo career progressed, Jackson underwent plastic surgery and had his skin tone lightened, removing all trace of the cute teenager who once sang alongside his brothers.

At the party - to celebrate the 70th birthday of family friend Al Malnik - the father of three seemed happy to go back to his roots.

He stayed at the party at The Forge restaurant - restored by Malnik in the late 1960s to become Miami's most glamorous showbusiness haunt - for about two hours on Saturday night.

One guest said: 'It was like he was back in the 70s. Michael didn't dance, unfortunately, but he was jigging around in his seat.'

Jackson, who claims he was 'betrayed' by interviewer Martin Bashir in an ITV documentary earlier this year, has released home videos in an attempt to counter the negative publicity he attracted. These are to be shown here soon on Sky.

Miss Modular Here's a more detailed piece of news on the "voodoo" curse.
__________________

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Embattled pop star Michael Jackson (news) wears a prosthetic nose and once paid $150,000 for a "voodoo curse" to kill director Steven Spielberg (news) despite being deep in debt, Vanity Fair magazine reported on Monday.

Vanity Fair, in an article for its March 11 edition, also reports that Jackson bleaches his skin white because he does not like being black. The 44-year-old singer sometimes refers to black people as "spabooks," the magazine said

Jackson's manager did not immediately return phone calls and a faxed request for comment on the article. Jackson's London publicist could not be reached for comment.

The onetime King of Pop has been dogged by controversy for months, first over his odd appearance in a California courtroom last November. That same month, Jackson stunned fans in Berlin by briefly dangling his young son from a hotel balcony.

And in February a British television documentary that aired to blockbuster ratings both in England and the United States caused a stir when Jackson told his interviewer that he slept in the same room, and sometimes the same bed, as young boys.

Vanity Fair reported in the article that in 2000 Jackson attended a voodoo ritual in Switzerland where a witch doctor promised that Spielberg, music mogul David Geffen and 23 other people on the entertainer's list of enemies would die.

Jackson, who underwent a "blood bath" as part of the ritual, then ordered his former business adviser Myung-Ho Lee to wire $150,000 to a bank in Mali for a voodoo chief named Baba, who sacrificed 42 cows for the ceremony, the magazine reported.

Vanity Fair reported that Jackson wears a page-boy wig and a prosthesis that serves as the tip of his nose. The magazine interviewed a source close to Jackson who said that, without the device Jackson resembles a mummy with two nostril holes.

According to the magazine, Jackson's extravagant lifestyle and declining record sales have left him $240 million in debt.

The article, which relies in part on court filings in a $12 million lawsuit against Jackson by Lee, said that since the mid-1990s the reclusive entertainer has relied on a series of multimillion-dollar loans to cover his expenses.

In addition to the lawsuit by Lee, Jackson is also enmeshed in a $21 million court battle with German concert promoter Marcel Avram over canceled Millennium concerts and has been sued by Sotheby's auction house for $1.6 million.

The magazine reported that Jackson must pay off the principal on a $200 million loan within a few years, which will be nearly impossible unless he sells his most valuable asset, the Beatles song catalog. He owns only half of the catalog while Sony Corp (news - web sites). owns the other half in an arrangement that might make selling his share difficult, Vanity Fair reported.

Jackson has also run up nearly $4 million per year in expenses from his Neverland Valley ranch in central California, where in April 2001 his amusement park equipment was nearly repossessed for late payments, the magazine said.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX MON MARCH 03, 2003 16:52:09 ET XXXXX

MAGAZINE ALLEGES MICHAEL JACKSON VOODOO HEXES AGAINST ENEMIES; VANITY FAIR SAYS GEFFEN, SPIELBERG TARGETED

**Exclusive**

Michael Jackson's voodoo curse on the lives of David Geffen and Steven Spielberg is just one of the shocking revelations in a new 10,000-word report from VANITY FAIR special correspondent Maureen Orth, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

MORE

She also reports that Jackson wears a prosthesis that serves as the tip of his nose (without it, says one person, he resembles a mummy with two nostril holes).

Orth is set to unleash on NBC's TODAY SHOW Tuesday morning.

She will claim -- in a report which streets March 12 -- that Michael Jackson paid $150,000 to an African voodoo chief who promised him that David Geffen and Steven Spielberg and the 23 other people on Jackson's enemies list, some of whom had worked with him for years, would soon die.

The voodoo man, who had 42 cows ritually sacrificed for the ceremony, later assured one close observer of the scene that Geffen, who headed the list, would die within the week.

According to Orth, Jackson had already undergone a ritual cleansing blood bath with sheep's blood, for which he paid six figures to another voodoo doctor.

Orth reveals that Jackson wears a prosthesis that serves as the tip of his nose, owing to a lack of cartilage due to excessive plastic surgery. One person who has seen him without the device says he resembles a mummy with two nostril holes.

Orth reports that the reason Jordie Chandler's sex claim case never went to trial was in part because his family said they were intimidated, harassed, and threatened, not solely because they were paid reportedly in excess of $25 million.

At the time, Jackson had private detective Anthony Pellicano working for him. Pellicano was intimately involved in trying to negotiate with Jordie Chandler's father- whom he accused of extortion -- and in discrediting the accusers.

Orth tracked down reporter Victor Gutierrez in Chile, author of Michael Jackson Was My Lover: The Secret Diary of Jordie Chandler, who claims that Pellicano told him, "Consider yourself dead!"

Gutierrez says that after he was beat up on the street by three men, Pellicano stopped in his car and laughed. Pellicano was arrested by F.B.I. agents last November after they found explosives in his safe "strong enough to bring down an airplane." His lawyers declined to comment to Vanity Fair.

Orth reports that expenses for Neverland alone were $4 million for last year, and in April 2001 the amusement-park equipment was reportedly almost repossessed.

Yay, more Jacko fun!

Les Waste Except I really think he does molest children. And he does seem like a very bad parent. Granted, there are thousands of other people who are child molesters and terrible parents. But if he wasn't so rich he could afford the Elephant Man's remains, I doubt he would have been able to settle the 1993 lawsuit, and I doubt he would have won the case had it gone to trial. Also, most people would have their children taken away if they dangle them out of a high rise hotel window. But that's just my opinion.

"Thriller" is such a good album too. I think the biggest tragedy in this is that he stopped making good music.
