Topic Review (Newest First)

Esuohlim eReaders are for fags.

Now then, I beat the game this afternoon and here is my review:

THE NOSTALGIA IS GONE . Music is improved and graphics are improved. The colors are duller, levels are a bit easier, and the save option takes some replay value away from the game.

BUT THE GOOD NOTES: It's Mario Fucking 3 .

Also, the spade square that lets you match up the mushroom, flower, or star and gives you 2up, 3up, or 5up respectively turns into a heart square if you win. In the heart square, instead of matching up a star you can match up a leaf, which is 7up. If you win that, it turns into a club square, which replaces a leaf with a "3" and gives you 10up. I've never won that round, but I bet the club squares turn into diamond squares. :hat

ALSO IF YOU OWN THE BUTTFUCK E-READER, YOU CAN PLAY SOME EXTRA FAGGOT LEVELS BUY BUYING SOME CUNTING E-READER CARDS

The end.

Shoeless joe Is the e-reader really worht it though? It doesn't seem to have much worth to it right now, unless you can't find any old skool nes roms on the net. As for buying the game, well, i'd wait untill it's available as used before i get it. Hell, Mario 3 still got the gameplay and charm that alot of games today are missing. God, there haven't been more original powerups made since, like the boot in world 5, the hammer bros. suit and the frog suit. Gotta have more frog suit, baby!!

Zbu Manowar I could never understand the eReader cards or other legions of neat-now shit Nintendo puts out instead of just putting out a DVD-based console then putting out their whole library of games for that? Shit, then they could charge $50 easily for games and finally regain some respect.

Nerd I started playing through this game with my bro recently. I have forgotten how good this game is. I love the suits. Like in Giant, Sky and Ice world you can get one every other stage. It's so dramatic when I lose one. It sux.

But the best part of the game has to be trying to beat the airships using the suits. I tried that recently with a Tanookie Suit, and got blind sided by a cannon. Both my brother and I yelled out at the top of our lungs in unison: "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

Good times.

Do you have an E-Reader, and if so, how are the new levels?

Soul*Assassin Player's guides are the stupidist thing you can ever buy. Why the fuck would someone buy an ace game and use a god damn guide so that he/she could complete it in a couple of days? crazy

Fuck the frog suit, the big shoe is where it's at.
Hey, don't forget about the Hammer Brother suit. A combo of that and the giant boot kicks major ass...

They're making player's guides for this game? Now that just pisses me off.
They did it for when the original game came out.

They have players guides for all the big games.

Drev They should've just done what they did with Mega Man 2 for NA. Have a Normal and Hard difficulty. The hard version was the original difficulty in Japan.

3 was way too easy
They should have left powering down the same way as the Japanese version. In the JPN version when you were raccoon, frog, tanooki, whatever and got hit, you went right back to being small Mario. In the NA version, iirc, when you were hit as a raccoon, you were still Super Mario and had to get hit again to get small. I guess like with the original Mario 2, or the Lost Levels, Nintendo thought that it would be too difficult and frustrating for us unskilled NA gamers.

I was a big shot and had the Famicom SMB3 almost a year before the North American release.

pjalne It may have been easy, but it was fucking huge compared to most other platformers back then.

timrpgland 3 was way too easy (well I guess they all are but still). Introduced us to the map style though.

Big McLargehuge Yesterday I hooked up my NES and put in SMB3 I turned the volume way up, 30 seconds later 7 people were in my room waxing nostalgic. Then I yelled at them to get the fuck out, and they all looked at me all sad and shit.

Nerd I thought about getting an SP. But in the end, I just decided to use my Gameboy Player. Main reason being is that I usually never play games outside my room. Also becuase it can play it on a bigger screen, and plays in stereo. I also don't have to worry about batteries or anything like that.

How about you get an SP asshole

I agree. SMA4 may be the best reason to get an e-reader now for me, but I'll probably regret it when the e-reader levels are insanly hard or just plain sucky.

Drev I got this Nintendo Power offer in the mail today. Which is a $60 bundle pack which includes SMA4, its player's guide, a pack of e-reader cards for SMA4, a coupon for a GBASP and an E-Reader (both $10 off), and a 12-issue subscription to nintendo power. This does sound like a good idea, though I would have to deal with crappy NP issues in my mail, but I get some good stuff for SMA4.

Nerd James, I see you're point, but personaly, I can't stand playing ROMS. I don't know what it is about them that makes them so un-enjoyable. I would much rather lay out on my bed and play SMB3 then sit in front of my computer, which I already do for several hours each day. I am, of course, talking about the Gameboy Player and not the GBA itself. I hate playing that, too. Having to sit in a certain position to get light, having to crane my neck all the time...ugh...and it's like not I play any of the games outside my room anyway.

I bought SMBA, and I beat it in a week and never played it again. This is mostly becuase I don't like Mario games that much.

As far as porting SNES game to GBA is concerned, I persoanaly am not going to buy them. All the SNES games I like I own, and my SNES is plugged in and works just fine. I do think that it's pretty cool that Nintedo is re-introducing the golden age of gaming to a new generation of gamers, tho.

The actuale game, SMB3, is good, but not that good. I much rather prefer Kirbys Adventure. Still, it's probably one of, if not the, best Mario game.

Krythor Yeah, but they already did that for Super Mario All Stars.

But yeah, they still deserve to make a decent profit off of it.
Oct 1st, 2003 07:03 PM
Mockery The prices should be lower, but not crazy low... they are redoing all of the graphics to make them look like SNES games, and that in itself is quite a time consuming task.

I wish I could draw
