Raining blood. Yeah, it's good. As is her version of Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat.

I was going to say Dimmu Borgir with Burn in Hell to reduce the fag factor, but Kelly already said it. Hmmm... Kovenant's version of Babylon Zoo's Space Man kicks ass. There.

WTF? It sounded way too much like the original in my opinion. On the other hand, Rancid's sped-up "Sheena" and Rob Zombie doing "Blitzkrieg Bop" made me touch myself. Like when I was watching the Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle trailer.

kellychaos Somebody help me out here. There was an R&B/rock singer (possibly Lenny Kravitz) that did an excellent cover of Bob Marley's "(I Don't Want To) Wait In Vain". Am I right on who it was?

I don't think so. That really is one of their best. And I don't think anyone else has done it because it's such a good song that if someone did it before it would have been a big enough hit for me to have known about it.

Les Waste Yeah, but they changed it a lot. The original version was done a long time ago as a reggae song. It's really slow and all the words are different. Also, you can tell which lyrics were added to the Clash version just by listening to it. The only lyrics in the original version were the chorus and those two weird little singing parts that start "Careful how you move, mack you stick me in the pack, and I'm so pilled up right now," and "Careful how you slide, Clyde, all you do is glide, 'n pour your beer in me hat." Except the words are different

I forgot another one. Police on my Back was originally done by the Equals, who were Eddie Grant's band back in the day. He later got famous for the song "Electric Avenue."

Rongi Revolution Rock is a cover ?
Jun 15th, 2003 02:27 AM
Les Waste Oh shit. I forgot that some of the best Clash songs were covers.

The Clash - I fought the Law - Bobby Fuller

The Clash - Revolution Rock - Danny Ray

The Clash - Police and Thieves - Junior Murvin

The Clash - Junco Partner - It's a folk song, but various jazz musicians in the 30's and Joe Strummers R&B band before the Clash, The 101er's.

There are probably more that I can't remember. The Clash used to do a lot of covers of really, really old reggae songs.

And Joe Strummer used to do a great live cover of The Pogues's "If I should Fall From Grace with God."
