Nick I got the MGS4 bundle pack, I mean how could I not? 80GB PS3 with MGS4, Dual Shock 3, and Pain for $499.99.

PS: Pain sucks.

Fathom Zero I'll probably get it after a while, a PS3 is the fifth thing down on my list of things to buy. Luckily, I've been working my ass off this summer, so I should be able to get a number of things and be set 'til college.

Phoenix Gamma Yea, PS3 isn't accident prone or anything, so I don't know where you heard that rumor. I forgot to mention, though; the game installs stuff onto the PS3 for each act, not just the initial startup. It almost makes you miss switching disks.

@MLE: He's pointing with the other arm :P I already shrunk the sprite once, and if I shrink it some more, it'd look even worse. Damn avatar limits.

MLE I always assume that your avatar is yelling into his loudspeaker about his arm that has been cleanly lopped off.

I dunno. It depends. Personally, I have no plans on picking up a PS3 until is has a bigger library, and I definitely wouldn't buy a system just for one game, even if it is MGS4. Not that you shouldn't get a PS3 or MGS4 now; everyone else is going to be getting the bundle when it launches. I do think it blows GTA4 out of the water in terms of "Game of the Year" potential, though.

That said, it's a pretty long game (longer than MGS2. I haven't sat down with three yet) but it's a Metal Gear Solid game, so you'll spend just as much time watching cutscenes as you will be playing, if not more. I just sat and watched parts of it, and I already feel like I beat the damn game

Lobo Tommy Oops. I meant to say distract the guards. I just learned about the porno distraction thing anyways.

There's a "stress" meter is like the stamina meter from MGS3, and a Psyche is kind of the opposite. Each meter has different effect on performance, accuracy, and health.

@Lobo: Uh, kill the guards? Unless I'm misinterpreting, you could always kill people. is there less of a penalty? Totally. I played on the lower difficulty because I'm shit at MGS games and getting into a firefight didn't feel as penalizing, but I read in EGM that the higher difficulties pretty much force you to use stealth. Naturally, not killing people gets your rewards and shit.

Lobo Tommy Can you kill the guards now?

Metal Gear Solid 4

My buddy got a hold of a leaked copy of MGS4 and powered through the whole game last night. Shit's pretty intense, though the story gets really far fetched in an attempt to explain every loose end in the franchise.

I like the gameplay though. I only got to play a little of it before my friend was itching to finish it, but from what I played, the combat is a lot more fun now. Instead of being spotted and running like a little bitch, I was able to fight off the enemies without wrestling the controls.

Also, the finale is pretty epic. A tad long (long boss fight, really long ending, then long surprise ending) but that sort of thing comes with the territory of being a MGS game.

Definitely the best game in the franchise. Probably the funniest too, since there seems to be more jokes tucked away this time around.
