CheapAlert I disagree. Software > OpenGL. Quake2's opengl renderer was always shit as it washed out everything in saturation, resolution and "texture gamma". Not worth it.

EGL is currently the best IMO, Quake2Evolved is gay and rips alot of code, content and is just too damn crashy and egotistical for my tastes.

stop using software mode.

use opengl.

Quake 2 Source Ports

I was wondering if there were any good source ports for Quake 2. I've tried Quake 2 Max but for some reason the menus in that game make my computer run really fucking slow and there is no way in hell my laptop could handle Quake 2 Evolved. I'm just looking for a port that updates the graphics a little bit with better particles and maybe some higher res textures. Somthing like an eQuake/FuhQuake or QuakeWorld (whatever the fuck the proper name for it is) style port.
