Battle Royale may be the big jackoff for the cool kids about a year ago, but it's still a really strong movie. The violence is that "OMG SO COOL" factor among a lot of people, but the story and development is really great for people who aren't just watching it for the gore. Ichi's good too. The confusion is Miike's signature, I think. He did the same thing in Audition, but he's actually more coherent in Ichi. Still a good film, though. You wanna talk about overrated movies? Try watching Lost in Translation. |

battle royale is so overrated it's not even funny. overhyped by western fans becuase of its excessive 'violence'. its only redeeming quality is that iori-ripoff character with the uzi who adds comic relief. it's a crime that i haven't seen ichi yet - time to hit up suprnova |
