Chojin | Yeah, except a free-for-all in which you decide who's best would be somewhat gay. I recommend for qualifiers we pair everyone up and at the end people vote on their top 5 (or 10) favorite mockers.

ziggytrix | I haven't done that since the ezboard days, though I have bought some junk from here.

Donating lets you vote and view the fights as they happen instead of reading them after each round is over. It also lets you participate, too, yeah, but I wanted to illustrate that it isn't just 'for the right to vote'. Besides, you should donate to the board anyway. We have our donation drive coming up soon. |

ziggytrix | Actually, I wouldn't pay just to vote. I might pay to play (2 bucks is chump change as far as an entry fee goes). But having a panel of judges could lead to perceptions of bias, particularly if the judges are all "vets".

GW, I've never watched American Idol, how does that system work? Bubba, people that haven't donated are cheap fags, who are these 'certain people' you wish to invite? |

I agree with this system as long as certain people who aren't donators can join in by invitation. BTW, I win. |

I'm thinking signups will start monday or sooner, then we'll give a week to collect signups, then qualifiers, then brackets. Bracket matches with be simple 1 on 1 VS and last for 3 days each. But I still haven't decided on how to do the qualifiers yet, so I'm open to ideas. |

Guitar Woman | When does this start?

Schimid | Yeah, only after each round would be the best.

Guitar Woman | Only after each round. It just seems like it would be a lot easier that way.

Yeah, it's simple to allow people to view it without paying while keeping the others able to post. I just want to give people an incentive to donate if they don't want to participate or vote. But that's probably not the way to do it if we want people to pay attention. Actually, wait, i could just move the finished threads to another forum that is readable. So far my idea is to create a new forum specifically for fights and enter all the participants into a usergroup that can reply in that forum but not edit or make new posts. People in the 'donaters' usergroup can only read the forum, and no-one else can. Then we'd use the normal mock wars forum for commentary, and I'd dump each round from the fights forum into mock wars as they finish. I think I'll paste that in the OP :< * So i guess the question now is whether the public should be able to view the fights as they happen or only after each round. THOUGHTS. |

Your donation method is pretty solid though, and any ballot stuffing would require someone to donate more money... very American. I approve. Is there no way to allow non-donators to view but note vote/play? Perhaps a new phpbb on the same server, but then could you merge the databases afterward? I dunno, I'm clueless about php. |

I'm just a pretentious asshole. :/ I refused to go see Gladiator at the cinema with my friends as I thought it looked shite, so eventually they bought me the DVD to prove me wrong, but the one time I ever sat down to watch it I fell asleep at the battle in the woods with the Germans, which they tell me is at the beginning, but seemed to last forever. |

The Mock Wars! forum is more than just a place to be stupid, it's the traditional battleground for the mighty titans of mirth to pitch their skills of funny in a fight to humourous death. |

blackwar12 | well its a good idea but locking out the public from seeing it would make it kinda pointless so i prepose whomever has donated to the boards can preticipate while others are just mere spectators watching in on the fun.

might wanna indicate how much time involvment participation requires. ya might be able to weed out half-assed participants who drop out after the first round that way. as for vote control, what's wrong with 1 IP, 1 vote? |

I'd join if I were funny. If you need it though, I'd help you out with the organization or something, sweetcakes ;O EDIT - Just reading the first post, I definitely think that it might lock out the public. It's a good idea, and I don't have an alternative or anything, but for real. I'd like to vote := EDIT 2 - Wow, just read the old one, Burbank is a beast. := |
