Mary Magdelin was important in many ways, as per her marriage to Jesus Christ. Numero Uno, Jesus Christ was a direct decendant of King David, which woul\ bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbU(My cat wanted to say that, i think it's important to the discussion) Which would make his children decendants as well, and applicable for a "Throne". Secondly, alot of 'power figures' circling the Church, like for example; the King and Queen of Britain (and friends) claimed to be decendants of Jesus Christ, or were at least proclaimed as such. |

Yeah, like you said, just a typo (that happens to be four keys away, and typed with the opposite hand)... I don't know why this struck me as so funny. It made me picture a polio-stricken (or one of the three stooges as a) hobo or something. |

I wasn't going to make mention of that, I mean it's just a typo, lord knows I make enough of them. On the other hand, 'y' is four keys away from 'w'. Kind of a funky typo. 'curley straw'. Seriously, though, Vinth, what is it with you and the violent sexual imagery? Is that funny to you, or edgy? Is it supposed to be outrageous and shocking? Is it supposed to upset me enough to make me loose control? Cause basically, all it does it make you look kind of mentally ill. Unless it gts you all hot, in which case far be it from me to judge another persons proclivities. |

Say, Lisa Marie, why don't you start one up? Or of that seems like too much of a commitment for you, the kind of thing it would be easy to start but hard to follow through on, you could just write articles for other sites. Why, people might even pay you for them once in a while, you could get into print journals, go on the road, teach other aspiring pundits. you might get money to speak publicly. Hell, stranger things have happened. I think that 'spiteful kike' joke of yours could bring the house down. Oh, say, are you taking a sick day or did you get fired? |

The theory that Jesus was married to Mary predates the Davinci Code by well over two decades. Rabbis aged thirty were almost always married, though I personlly have no opinion about jesus and mary's relationship. We discussed this theory in religion classes at my episcopal high school in the late seventies.It's an offshoot of the historical Jesus movement, and the Davinci code draws from it. Big shock you didn't know that. Bigger shock that you thought the only thing you knew about this was all there was to know. There have been multiple documentaries on this topic over the years. The Davinci code is fictional, like the Celestine Prophecies and The Left Behind Series. People who don't bother to seperate hitsorical fact from speculation are missing much of the fun of the book. The idea that Jesus had a bloodline which was kept hidden and guarded by a secret society is also one of the major plot threads of the graphic novel "Preacher". Perhaps this special is based on that. The vast majority of Christians, a subject you know very little about, reside in South America and Africa, and don't concern themselves that much with American Television. I wonder if you think Mel Gibson's upcoming movie might 'piss off' any Christians, particularly Catholics who thought vatican II was doctrinal as opposed to optional. Rest assured, I won't get pissed off by either one. PS: Say, some pointed social commentary about the Davinci code would make a great article for a web site. It's a damn shame there's np place out there to publsih really great writing like that. |

The reason people are getting upset about the special is it is based on the DiVinci Code, a book that is about as historically accurate as "War Of The Worlds". It claims that Jesus had a wife and child, that His Divinity was fake and made up by Constantine, and that there is this secret order that knew about it, and DiVinci kept it alive by putting certain pictures and words in his paintings and plans. As you can see this may piss off the vast majority of Christians just a bit. |
