Question about death records

I know that if someone is still a minor, their name can't be published in a newspaper (or maybe that's just if it's related to a crime, I don't know). But is it possible to find out if a minor has died, by name, though death records?

Also, is there any good place online to find up-to-date information on death records?

It's tough to find death records online. The best you can get for free is the obit from a local newspaper, if they keep them online. Most states, for a small fee, will send you death records. I know in Alabama it's $12.00.

Of course, if no death record exists, they laugh at you and keep your money.

Death records on minors are in our newspaper. :-/

These two kids a few years back got into a fight and one shot the other one. :o They were both 16 or 17 and they put the death record in the newspaper.

The laws probably vary from state to state.

I'm pretty sure the names of dead minors are public information every where as long as the family has been notified.
