Max, have you read Mad lately? It isn't even worth using as toilet paper.

Excellent article, by the way.

Cracked was my favorite mag back in like '94. I thought everyone forgot about it.

Okay, I feel a little better now. See, when I was a youngin', Cracked was the poor man's mad, if by poor you meant satisfied with crap. The only time you ever bought cracked is if you were dying for the next mad and it wasn't going to come out for another month.

well, maybe when i bought it i was just too young to know any better, but whenever i got mad instead it just seemed like they were living off their reputation and weren't trying so much anymore and cracked just seemed more fun

Tyson has the chicken market around here cornered so I wasn't familiar with the Perdue stuff.

Google found this to help me understand what Max was referring to:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/lizerk/365782.html

Mad magazine went downhill around the time they started making MAD TV. I guess. I dunno, I haven't bought one since I was a young teenager.

And further off on a tangent, if you have fond memories of MAD Magazine, go watch the Beck video for Girl. You'll see why.

I hate how Mad puts every few words in bold when they want to make a point in their comic segments.

See, I'm talking about a Mad magazine no more recent than the mid 70's. But while I'm sorry to hear about Mad's decline, I'm pleased to hear that Cracked has any legitimacy at all. Supposedly they are about to put some money behind a revitalized version of their magazine.

both of these magazines really arent that good anymore. cracked never really was. cracked is so poor nowadays, only low-grade drugstores sell their rag. anyway, how much are they paying you? I mean, do they make good employers??

Well, lets see, for this they paid me NOTHING. Aaaand I'm thinking for the next thing NOTHING, and then a family sized sack of NOTHING.

The web site hopefully increases my chances of getting in the print mag which will pay. The new format isn't going to be %100 graphic like the current one. A lot of internet frelancing is unfortunately a lot more about positioning than payment. Someday I hope to be entirely out of the positioning stuff, but for now I gots no choice.
