I just smoked a hookah for the first time today, and holy crap, it wasn't what I expected at all. It was much much better. I had grape, which was ok, but a friend had rose flavor, which was nothing short of awesome.

Does anyone else here smoke hookah? I seem to remember a few years ago someone was selling one in the Classifieds, but I can't remember who. If so, what are your favorite flavors? I'm going to the hookah cafe again Saturday, and I want to try something new.

aye, they have them in a local turkish restaurant that I so,metimes frequent. Apple flavour. Yummy...great way to get kids hooked on smoking.

'Twas I who sold the hookah, I've been a hookonnoiseur for about three years now. I tend to smoke strawberry most often because among the cheap flavors it's the best, but I also smoke rose and vanilla. It's best to combine what you're smoking with what you're ingesting, like smoking mint shisha while drinking mint tea, or drinking strong coffee while smoking coffee shisha.

Some people say it should give you little to no carcinogens, because the stuff is heated rather than burned. Others say it'll give you just as much carcinogens as if it had been burned (i.e. like a cigarette) because it's hot enough to turn the chemicals harmful. Also, since the smoke is more pleasant than cigarette smoke, people will do it longer, which could mean they take in more toxic smoke than a regular smoker.

If that was a wonky-sounding explaination it's because I just woke up and didn't feel like quoting Wikipedia. Just for the record, i'm neither for or against smoking so don't take it as me bashing hookah or smoking in general.

The shisha I buy has a claim that it contains no tar. I don't know how far you can trust that, but whatever. I'm all for anything that might kill me.

Well, the terminology varies all across the Arab world. In American usage, "hookah" refers to the device and "shisha" refers to the tobacco. In Romance languages, relevant because of Morocco and Algeria speaking French, the device is called any variant of "narguile" or "shisha" and the tobacco is just called "tabac". I was confused of this because I looked into buying both in Tangiers.

Shisha is typically only 30% tobacco, and the rest consists of nothing more than flavoring, honey, and molasses.

And from what I heard about the dangers of smoking a hookah, I heard that one batch of shisha is about as bad as one cigarette, but hookah smokers are less likely to smoke the equivalent as a typical cigarette smoker.

It has no added nicotene, so only moderately. Pistachios are addictive if you have the right personality. :/

I smoke pot through a hookah, but I've never tried shisha.

Personally I don't find myself any less intelligent when it's completely out of my system (30+days with no smoke), I just don't seem to get half as much stuff done. Except playing video games and posting on I-Mockery.
