Is there a liberal bias? Discuss.

Yes... but you'd have to know what I'm thinking of to understand what I'm talking about.

Me too.

mburbank~ Yes, okay, fine, I do know what you meant, but why is it not possible for you to get through a paragraph without making all the words cry?

How can someone who obviously thinks so much of their ideas have so little respect for expressing them? How can someone who so yearns to be taken seriously make so little effort?!

I know exactly what you are talking about, Modular, and i do NOT believe that there is a liberal bias to the media. If that were so, then Vinth would not have those sources he uses, whose names escape me at the moment, but I am sure you all know who I am talking about. There are just as many conservatives in the media as liberals. It is just that liberals get the bum-rap for "controlling the media" from the conservative media.

Here endeth the lesson.

Yeah that was insightful. Thanks. God knows you never hear about liberals complaining that the media is white washing the news to make the President look good.

It works both ways. To suggest that the "media" as a whole is biased either way is silly.

I opened this thread because my brother is reading Bernard Goldberg's book, and seems to be believing every word of it.

When the NYT prints retractions for their WMD coverage, I'll start thinking about a liberal bias as opposed to a moolah/power bias.

The media is biased towards selling papers.

The papers that are biased towards ideology are pretty clear about it, like The Post. Is it really a surprise to anybody that Murdoch is a conservative?

Media in general is just bad. Not liberal, not conservative, just bad.

Didn't say I agreed with him. But is there a good counter-argument to Goldberg's book? I looked at Eric Alterman's, and I don't think It provided an effective case.

The case can be made that there is no liberal bias, but it is a weak one. But Alterman is a fucking whiner. God I can't stand that ass.
