I got Blackwater Park last weekend, and it simlpy rocks my ass. Incredible musicianship, great melodies, just an all-around killer band. This is not to say that you should put it on a mix CD of love songs for your girlfriend. Unless your girlfriend likes vocalists who sound like Darth Vader with throat cancer. But it's damn good.

I think that Opeth are a band that deserve all the credit they get, but i just don't find myself itching to listen to them very often. :/

Blackwater park is Opeth at their worst since they took a tech death turn. Still Life is better. Deliverance is better. Morningrise is better. My Arms Your Hearse is better. Orchid is slightly worse and that Damnation silliness is better all but forgotten.

"Tech death"? I don't hear that on Blackwater Park. But maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by that. I definitely plan to check out the other albums, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to find the older ones.

And what about Damnation do you dislike so much?
