New Deftones Album

at first i was skeptical, but it seems that the deftones are back with a new sound once again. Saturday Night Wrist /emo is truely a unique album, sounding different than every other album they've released. if you're a deftones fan, and you've waited for a new release as long as i have, then i definetly reccomend a listen.

my favorites include:

Rapture - genuine deftones sound
Beware - great piano work and ghastly, haunting vocals
Mein - this features serj tankian of system of a down fame, a great great sounding song
Kimdracula - just all around great vocals on this one

i realize a lot of you idiots dont care for deftones and with the 2003 self-titled release i cant blame you, but give this a listen before you jump in about how they suck

Apart from "Mein", "Rats! Rats! Rats!" and "Combat", this is a pretty mediocre album. Better than S/T, but still kinda so-so.

Around the Fur continues to amaze me

I love it and, funny enough, i was planning on making a topic about it as well. Every album has a new sound, and i'm in love with this one. I think the album is probably the most accentuated one they've done as far as erotic undertones go. If you open the case and look at the back and front simultaneously, it's a set of eyes looking at some hottie who appears to be in the throes of ecstacy or wtf ever, making me think Saturday Night Wrist is a euphamism for masturbation.



....So yeah. It's pretty damn good, though. SO far i like Hole in the Earth, Rats, and Mein.

I picked it up today - It's good. I've only listened to it once or twice so I don't have any favourite songs just yet but it'll certainly be in my playlists for a while to come.

ADDED:
The songs which have really stood out for me have been:
- Beware
- Xerces

Although, they sound kind of similar which might be why.

seriously, every time I go to a deftones show, a guitar tech comes out and say something like "oh, Chino's sick, sorry guys, guess you'll just have to watch Godsmack/Whoever for another hour." Sick my ass! that fuckin' drunk!!!!
