Declawing is a lot more cruel than that. I watched a bit of "Animal Planet" one day in which a veteranarian discussed the process, ect. It's basically analagous to a human cutting off the first joint of their fingers. Not good. Plus they can't kick the asses of other cats around the 'hood. I wouldn't like my cat being the pussy < pun intended > of the neighborhood.
