Here's what I find hysterical about that a symposium.

Problem: "Japan goes bankrupt. Al Qaeda cements alliances with Palestinian extremists and sets off a series of terrorist attacks, mostly in Israel, hoping to create a political split in the Western alliance to thwart Qaeda-sponsored terrorism. "

Reason for the symposium: "OH MY GOD, IF ALL THAT SHIT HAPPENS HOW THE HELL ARE WE GONNA SELL MORE COCA COLA!!!"

I know there's more to it than that, I know lots of people depend on these businesses for their livelihood and insurance, but I can't help but feel that thinking of this as 'big picture' thinking is hillarious.
