Or we could say that the govt. knew (as did everyone) that Bhutto was a target and simply reduced protections until her assasination became likely.

It makes delaying the election a responsible move, it makes the extremists Mushariff uses to justify crack downs look even more dangerous, it causes the oposition party to riot making them a danger to law and order and it removes Mushariffs most capable opponent from the table.

I'm not saying that makes the argument true. It's not wild conspiracy theory either.
