Well, I know of one sure way and that is to make the fucking sore bleed. No shit, a few years back I used to get them big time and it made my mouth swell (thanks to my right canine jamming into my cheek). One day I was chewing and the tooth ripped it open. After I took some peroxide and Campho Phenique, my cheek healed and the sore was gone.

Who knew white blood cells could be so helpful? But seriously, man, if it's bugging the fuck out of you just call a dentist and tell them to look at your mouth. They should be able to help or something. Put you on antibodics or shit.
