I partially agree. Half of the humor in Dead Alive was, it seems to me, unintentional.
Granted, the Zombie baby in the park had me rolling with laughter, and the kung-fu priest, and the lawnmower to chest, over all it was a situational/sight gag type humor, which is freaking hilarious.
Before you point it out, yes, most of the humor in Shaun of the Dead was like that also, but... I don't know, I just like the... background humor, that Shaun of the dead had, to complement the foreground humor.
I.E. when Shaun and Liz are talking about the end in the basement of the pub, and killing themselves, and Ed is dying and mumbling in the background.
Or the final, parting jokes at the end of the film.
They are both hilarious movies I guess... but I enjoyed Shaun of the Dead a little bit more.
