...A 'possibility'. I think we can assume what that means.

They're all wondering if they should do it, as if it wouldn't be a smash hit in 5 minutes after its release.

Probably as possible as FF VII remake

Who remembers that Chrono Trigger fan remake which was cancelled because it didn't have Square's permission?
It looked damn great back then.

I don't get why people who are obviously reasonably intelligent enough to design a game on their own free time are so stupid as to try to create a remake. RPG fans are literally the nerdiest and the most retarded of all gamers at the same time, except maybe for the people who shout "NIGGRE" at eachother over their PS2 headsets.

They're gripping at the straws somewhat; the fact that a slim possibility exists doesn't mean that it's a likely possibility. Yeah, they're retarded for not remaking the game. It's a classic in almost every aspect that certainly deserves the honor. A Wii remake would be awesome, or even just a slightly revamped version for the DS. However, knowing how most game companies will shove their heads as far up their asses as they can on these matters 99% of the time, I wouldn't count on a Chrono Trigger remake happening. Ever.

Even if it did happen, how good do you think they'd bother to make it? They know that people would buy it strictly on the principle that it's Chrono Trigger; so how much effort would really have to be put into a remake to make it sell?

Why bother remaking it at all? The orignal was perfect as-is.

A revamped version could possibly include removed content, such as the expanded 65,000,000BC overworld, and Singing Mountain. Not to mention some of the removed songs, like the 2nd battle theme and the removed boss theme.

Which opens the door to a whole 'nother slew of bullshit. Video game remakes are rarely as good as the original. Case in point, Super Mario Bros. 2 on GBA. I honestly think if CT were ever remade (it won't be) they'd probably stick so much extra crap in it that it would be unrecognizable.

I'm meaning stuff that was partially in the beta versions of Chrono Trigger, but ended up being removed entirely. I would be perfectly content with a slightly revamed re-release that had a few extras tossed in, but everything else was untouched (including the script; for the love of god, please don't pull a FFVI Advance and mess up the script).

Though you're basically making the point I was trying to make earlier; they wouldn't bother to check the pulse of their fanbase to see what would be accepted or hated. They would just throw some shit together and know that it'd sell just because it's Chrono Trigger.

The only good remake made was Super Mario All-Stars and it wasn't for the graphical updates (although they were polished well) but the fact it compiled all the games in one (I think they added Super Mario World to it at one point or maybe that is just a rom hack ).

I wish they included the classic versions as well.

Oh and a 3D version of this game would probably look ugly ala the New Zelda. I didn't think the game was that great to begin with, but that's me.

No, they combined All-Stars and SMW together. I think it was bundled with the SNES2 re-release.

Yeah; All Stars was godly for us underprivileged children that didn't have an NES growing up. Though now that I'm older and have an NES of my own, I can safely say that the originals are far better than the All Stars remakes.

Far Better? shut up. They are just as good. (because they are exact duplicates but graphic-wise). Besides, I believe Fathom Zero was talking about Chrono Trigger.

The samples they used for the music drove me fucking insane. But like I said, it's great if you don't have an NES and haven't discovered ROMs. "Far better" was probably way overstating it, but whatever.

And Chrono Trigger is awesome if you're into the RPG genre. It has multiple endings, plus I believe it was one of the first games to successfully throw in a New Game+ option.

They've changed quite a bit actually but not for the worse... I mean FFIII for the SNES had a terrible translation. FFVI Advance actually tells more of the story and in a better way. Sure, they've changed some names and lines for the worse but it's a lot better writing. Overall it's a more complete script so I don't see the beef.

You're also talking to someone who bought FFIII when it came out so it's not like the nostalgia isn't there for the "original" translation.

$70... SNES games... Gotta love it...

I'm looking at some of the name changes right now and these two struck me as really gay:

Illumina -> Lightbringer
Atma Weapon -> Ultima Weapon

The names were much better before.
