I just digged out Genesis' "selling England by the pound" - hadn't listened to it in 10 years, and boy does it feel fuckin GREAT.

Me, I'm just a lawnmower, you can tell me by the way I walk.

Yeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssss

Although it makes me feel dirty and ashamed, I love a lot of old Gabriel era genesis.

The real thing to feel dirty and ashamed of, would be to love the Collins era stuff.

And what *I* am ashamed of, is to have forgotten that to dig is an irregular verb. Shitto.

The only honourable thing for you to do would be kill yourself, blob. You cant live with that kind of shame.

That album is fantastic.

So is Phil Collins.

For my mental health's sake I am going to pretend I didn't read this last sentence.

I'm being honest, although slightly tounge-in-cheek.

Take each thing for what it is/was. Selling England by the pound is their masterpiece. It's one of the tightest recordings I've ever heard, and it's a standout concept album.

And then there's Phil. The man is a pop genius. He had a quiet yet tremendously successful pop/adult contemporary/crap career all throughout the 90's. And I'll still argue to this day that his "You can't hurry love" cover is fantastic.

What's there to be ashamed of? Genesis are excellent up to lamb and Supper's Ready (especially the bit where Gabriel goes "it's been a long time, hasn't it?") is one of the most emotionally powerful songs I've ever hard. Yes! Oh and now that I said Yes I'm going to go off and listen to Fragile and Close to the Edge again. Maybe some King Crimson. Seriously if people have no appreciation for progressive rock's finest, it's their problem for having no taste in music.

But Phil Collins does suck goats, sorry.

I'm not really familiar with Genesis early years. Why is it that Gabriel and Genesis parted ways? Was he forced out or did he leave to pursue his own career, ect. I've always found him to be a better vocalist than Collins. That's not so much an ability thing as apersonal preference.
