Old May 11th, 2003, 06:24 AM        Strangers With Candy DVD news from jerriblank.com
WOWIE WOW WOW. I did not read this before

Quote:
["Strangers With Candy" Season One DVD Details]
The official release date for the Season One DVD will be June 17, 2003. The double disc set of 10 episodes will also include the original unaired pilot, 15 minutes of outtakes, deleted scenes, and tributes. There's commentary by Paul Dinello, Amy Sedaris, and Stephen Colbert on four of the episodes! Unfortunately, at this point there are no plans on issuing the 2 following seasons. They might appear on a "best of" DVD in the future. I'm sure if Season One sells well, we'll see more.

FUCKING AWESOME! I'm so glad they're not releasing it as just a shitty best of. Season 1 is great, and I can't wait to see the unaired pilot 'n deleted stuff. This is gonna rule.

Thanks for posting the news Jixby!

I remember I used to watch that show on Comedy Central until they put it to 3 in the morning. I am going to buy this DVD, because the shows were funny.

This is fucking excellent. I had no idea it came out so soon. 4 commentaries and other features are very nice, and should be hilarious. I just wish that they could do commentaries for all the episodes. I have a feeling that watching with commentary is gonna be even funnier than the regualr shows..

They better fucking get with the ucb and release the other 2 swc seasons too

I've seen links to buy this on comedycentral.com

Here is the coverart:

And it's only one month away! Fuck this is so great. I'm glad I didn't hear about this coming out 6 months ago like I normally do with DVD releases.

I cannot wait for it to come out. Must buy it the DAY it arrives in stores. They had better release the other seasons later on too.

When it comes out, one of us should review it on the movies site and I'll feature the review on the main page so more people will buy it.

When it comes out, go for it Jixby. Write the review and I'll feature it on the main page of I-Mockery. While it's not technically a movie, I do allow television show season box sets to be reviewed on the movie reviews site... and even if I didn't, I'd make an exception for Strangers With Candy.

You allow anything on a tape, DVD, or video file from the internet to be reviewed.

Well, not you. Ninjavenom.

So who got the DVD set already? And if you have it, how is the unaired pilot and all the extra stuff like the commentary 'n what not? I ordered mine online cuz I had a gift card from some kind viewer, so I gotta wait a few days before it gets here.

BTW, Jixby, be sure to shoot me an email when you review it so I can be sure it gets approved right away so I can put it up on the main page.

I won't get it for a while because amazon.com hasn't even sent it yet, and none of the stores have it here (big surprise). I have a friend that works at Best Buy and I tried to get her to pull some strings but I didn't really expect anything to come of it.

The one thing I heard is that it only has the pilot and the commentaries as extras, no deleted scenes or outtakes (unless they are easter eggs or something), but it's no biggie because the pilot itself is like the biggest deleted scene you can have.

If somebody else has it already and writes a good enough review I won't be offended. But I've written enough reviews and stuff about the series itself that I could easily write a good review for the site.

I received it in the mail yesterday. Didn't get to watch too much of it yet, but I did watch the pilot and a few of the commentaries. The pilot episode is basically an earlier version of the "Retardation: a Celebration" episode. It's really cool to see the show just starting out 'n what not. I definitely like the changes they made after the pilot too...

And it's extra weird because Coach Cherri Wolf was originally cast as Jerri's mom!

Anyway, yeah, I don't think there's any additional deleted scenes unless they're hidden. The commentary is pretty cool so far, and I like how they explain how they came up with the name Jerri Blank.

Anyway, BUY THIS DVD NOW PEOPLE! If you missed out on it the first time, now is your second chance to see one of the most brilliantly written shows ever.

hell yea. i got this the day it came out at best buy(i cant believe they had it!). I have watched it all but one commentary. It was so great to see all the episodes again in such great quality, there are so many jokes that I forgot about, and even an episode I have never seen (violin one)

The pilot is funny to see how much the show changed, it is interesting how the made both jerri and her mother much worse people in the real series. Many of the jokes throught this episode are also used in later episodes.

I should do a review too. We should have like 20 reviews for this just so everyone knows how great it is.

we finished watching it all. Seeing the pilot was great and I think they made some really good changes from it. The commentary was pretty funny. I liked hearing how they came up with certain jokes, but what I really liked was when they pointed out jokes I hadn't noticed when watching an episode because they were so subtle.

This dvd made me sad why did they have to cancel the show
At least they are making a movie now. I can't wait for that

Man I need to sit down and finish rewatching the 2nd and 3 seasons too...i think there might be some episodes i had missed the first time round. Seriously this show gets better everytime i watch it.

Correction Re, we finished watching disc 1. There's a whole extra disc of "GOOD TIMES" for us to enjoy. And yeah there's a lot of shit you don't even notice in the show cuz it's so subtle... I wish they did commentary for all of the episodes.

As for the Strangers With Candy movie:

No channels around here ever showed it so I had to download the first episode to get an idea of what it's like and found it pretty funny, but is the dvd set worth it?

It's SOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. BUY IT NOW.

And I'm not just saying that cuz I want the Amazon.com referral or anything... it truly is among the greatest shows ever. You'd be hard-pressed to find better writing anywhere else. It's just golden.

Yeah, I saw it yesterday, she also gave him her new book... It's about porn shops, strippers, and used car lots. I went to Best Buy Yesterday and they didnt have it, and I asked when they planned on getting it... and they didn't even know what it was.

Should someone who never even saw the show (it was so short lived on Comedy Central that I never got a chance to watch it) just go out and buy the DVD? Is there anyone that doesn't like it? Because if there isn't anyone that doesn't like it, I'm sold.
