Can hardly wait to see this.. I really loved the Call of Cthulhu movie, so I'm having high hopes for this one. The trailer looks promising and I have that kind of an itch in the back of my head that this one will also kick ass.

Do you know if this is going to be an actual movie, or if it is just a bunch of kids making a movie or what? The Whisperer In The Dark is my very favorite horror short story and I've always felt it could make one hell of a creepy movie in the right hands.

Well, I've understood that the movie is fan made and produced by H.P Lovecraft Historical Society. And it seems to me that they're serious, based on the qualty of the Cthulhu movie. They've also released a 75-minutes long audio drama of "At the mountains of madness" and a parody musical of the Fiddler on the roof titled "A Shoggoth on the roof".

Wikipedia informes as follows:

Quote:
The Call of Cthulhu was made to look like it had been made in the 1920s, the same time as the short story it was based on was printed. As a result, it was made to look grainy, with black and white coloring and as a silent film instead of a "talkie". The same concept will be done with The Whisperer in Darkness; it will still be black and white, but as the story was released in the 1930s, it will have speaking roles.
And that Albert Wilmarth will be played by Matt Foyer, who also played the "main character" in The Call of Cthulhu.

If you're interested, you should check HPLHS' website:

http://www.cthulhulives.org/toc.html

They've got all kinds of crazy fan stuff for sale too. For example:

Cthulhu idols:

movie posters:

etc.

Wouldn't mind having a Cthulhu idol as a paper weight, too bad it costs 400$ :/

EDIT: I also find whisperer in darkness as one of my favorite Lovecraft novels
