Old Dec 20th, 2004, 12:34 AM        Totally weird computer problem. Help.
Ok, my computer keeps just.. stopping. It's not really 'freezing'. It goes black, but the computer is still running, so I don't think that qualifies as crashing. At first, I figured out that it happened when I started playing music. Then I realized it only happened when the speakers were plugged in. This was totally weird to me and to everyone I asked about it, but now it seems this problem has lost all interest in fairness and has become a loose cannon. Now it happens whenever the hell it wants. No one I know has heard of anything like this so I figured I'd give this place a shot. Someone... help.

It sounds like it's either the video card or the motherboard. It could also be the monitor, but monitors tend to have picture problems before they start dying.

This is a common problem with people who have an Audiology Soundblaster 2 Platinum if you don't keep the sound card updated the computer doesn't like it.

Oh wow, thanks guys. I gave up on checking to see if anyone would respond long ago. I ended up getting a new motherboard and all is well.
