http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/...in669369.shtml
Will people ever fucking learn that just because they are fat fucks, they can't sue the company that sold them the food and win? At this point, that's like suing Michael Jackson on charges of molestation after you spent the night at Neverland until you were too old for him.

I like how becoming fat is considered being "injured".

Well the quality of McDonalds food is terrible, and the process in which they obtain their filth is disgusting. They feed people the worst crap possible. Even if this isn't a justifiable reason to sue McD's, there are other reasons such as a lack of recycling programs, and the immense shortage of workers unions in the franchise.

You know, I going to sue Pontiac for making my car a girly looking car. People laugh at me, and it hurts my self esteem. My esteem is so low, I can't even get a job. I want money for this.

Fat is one of the leading causes of death in America, and considering McDonalds is a leading distributor in fatty foods, that must mean that THEY are doing something wrong. Now you could make the argument that the American public is stupid, and this does make sense as well. So both sides are doing something wrong then.

thats the dumbest argument I have ever heard. Right next to when my friend farted in the sound room in guitar class and tried to convince me I did it when it was just the two of us :/

Does McDonalds force you to eat their food? No. Do they say you will be a better person for eating their food? No. Do their ads in any way shape or form make it seem like the sexiest people eat at McDonalds? I believe there is a Minimock about that. McDonalds is not in any way responsible for making this country fat. It's like sueing Stephen King because you lost sleep after reading The Shining. You decided to do it, it's your own damn fault.

Can't we just kill people for making ridiculous lawsuits like this?

It'll teach other people not to do the same thing.

i bet if someone tried to sue some family owned fast food place which 'made them fat' they wouldnt even be granted a case, but mcDonalds is a massive 'evil' organisation which TRICKS you into eating

I think that bit about their ads kinda goes against the grain of the rest of your argument. And McDonalds is in some way responsible. To say they are wholly responsible would be stupid, but saying they are completely faultless is almost as dumb.

They are responsible to the extent of cooking thier food in the equivalent of pure fat, but that is it. People do not need to eat there, people are not forced to eat there, and people shouldn't eat there. Everyone knows this, and that is why people are to blame for this fiasco. McDonalds is simply making money off of people who don't care about thier health, which at this point in history, is most of America.

Perhaps the people who are REALLY upset about the lawsuit that's been filed should claim that their righteous indignation over the suit has injured them in some way*, band together, and get a class action lawsuit going against the numbskulls that are trying to sue McDonalds...

* "I was so angry about those fools suing McDonalds for their poor eating habits that I couldn't concentrate at work and lost my job!" For an extra slice of irony, make it a job at a McDonalds.

Is it actually cheaper to eat carbohyrdrates, fatty and processed foods? Seems like a growing number of lower income people are getting fat.

It's MUCH cheaper to eat poorly, especially when you look at the time involved in preparing healthy food (because very little ready prepared food is anywhere close to good for you). The working poor are probably the main reason the obesity rates in the US are so high.

I think that it's more the laziness factor. I can pick up a lot of fresh produce for the same price that I would pay for a McDonald's meal.

Buying a family of three a meal from McDonals is anywhere from one fifth to one third of a weekly grocery bill depending on how frugal the grocery shopper is.

I wasn't talking about McDonald's, necessarily. If you go to the grocery store and buy three meals' worth of fresh food/meat/produce, it'll cost a lot more than three days' worth of canned/prepared/processed foods.

In the absence of the money/time issue, though, I agree 100% that ours is a culture of convenience.

All of this is tangential to the REAL problem, which is not the fat, but the sodium content of the prepared filth we love to eat. A MEDIUM #2 extra value meal contains over 80% of the US recommended limit % Daily Value of sodium for a 2000 calorie diet, according to a quick check of http://mcdonalds.com.

That's my regular (with no onions please) too.

Plus I think the 2005 dietary guidelines said that they've been saying previous sodium DV limits have been too high.

That's why I replace all my salt with talc.

Cause it contains most of the same letters.
