If she doesn't, or if she gets mad over you not wanting to be the back-up, then she isn't worth your time. I'm saying this like I know you, which could be a mistake, because you might be really annoying and really ugly. If that's the case, I guess you should hold on for dear life. But, if you think you are more than just a loser, put your foot down and tell her you don't want to be a back-up, and it's either she goes with you or she can find someone else to be her patsy.

I found out that i was her second choice, but she is this guys like 4th. Hes a jerk and Im not going to let her go with him.

I also decided it was stupid to be mad because i really did want to go to prom, and this is the only way im going to do it.

For some reason, girls like bad boy jerks and you missed a perfect chance to call her on this issue in the name of regular guys everywhere by not going. Besides seemingly having some serious self-esteem issues, you need to stop and ask yourself why this is so important to you. I went to the prom my sophomore year but chose not to go the following years because I spent a lot of the money that I earned and didn't have a good time ... at least until after we left for some of the "after parties". I didn't forsee any of the future proms getting any better so I ignored the social pressure. In short, you're not missing much.
