For Jixby:

1. Donnie Darko: I have on DVD.
So you like it, that's good.

2. Requiem for a dream: Bet you I'll hate it.
It's very tragic

3. Pi: Bet you I'll hate it.
Eh, probably

4. May: Bet you I'll hate it.
It's not a very... Action type movie, but it's worth seeing sometime.

5. 1,000 Maniacs: I dunno.
Great old horror film :D

6. Help! (Just cause it's so funny): Probably.
Beatles movie... Gee... It's really funny to drink and watch with friends.

7. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: I hate this movie.
Many people don't like it because of Depp's voice. But I guess if you don't like this movie that you probably won't like Requiem.

8. Strange Brew: SCTV is funnier.
He's a cop, eh. He knows you lyin.

And the period slang and dialogue can kind of throw you off a bit the first time through.

But watch it again and I guarantee you it will be about ten times better. It's my favorite Coen brothers film.
That's what I hate about most gangster films. The ones I've seen are mostly all like this. I have an extremely difficult time remembering names and faces in general, so when there's a movie that relies on it so much it really fucks me up. Seriously, it takes me forever to actually be able to call people I know by their names because I am never sure if I remember them correctly. Actually now that I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking it might be a serious problem. Or maybe it's that I just don't like people very much and I'm anti-social and I don't give a fuck what most people's names are and therefore I'm just not used to remembering names. But at any rate, I'm more able to put voices to faces than names to faces. There are movies that I'll love and be totally involved emotionally in, yet I wouldn't be able to tell you what the main character's first name was. Is that very common?

Maybe you're just a mental midget and have trouble with films. In comparison to most movies, Miller's Crossing is very easy to follow. It just is.

Oh, and if you liked "12 Angry Men", there is another older court-case movie you need to see. It doesn't deal with the jury, but for some reason I always think of one when I think of the other. Watch the movie "Inherit the Wind". It's loosely based on facts dealing with the so-called "monkey trials".

Trust me on this one.

So you find most movies more difficult to follow? Like say, "Finding Nemo"?

And Jixby, that's not terribly uncommon. It happens with me sometimes too, but only with certain movies or tv shows, where I can't be bothered to remember the characters' names. I can't explain it.

I am getting behind and I'm not sure if I skipped a day. I think I did.

Oh well, I'm still at least 1 for 1 movies for days.

Full Metal Jacket was fantastic.

No, most movies are on the very easy to follow plain. And then there are films that aren't, like Mulholland Dr., which requires a second viewing to straighten it out.

"Full Metal Jacket" is tied with "Dr. Strangelove" as my favorite Kubrik film. I just love the jarring switch from boot camp to the war that makes it feel like two completely different movies.

10. Las Hurdes (1933) (aka the Land Without Bread)
I owned this on my VHS of Un Chien Andalou, and hadn't watched it. There's a lot of fucked up shit in this documentary. A goat falls off a cliff and dies, a donkey gets stung to death by bees, and you know what? Dead babies aren't that funny. They just look like they're sleeping.
YES! The genius of this film should not be underestimated.
