Question:Why is Gothic architecture called "Gothic" when it really had nothing to do with the destroyers of the Roman Empire?
Answer: Gothic architure experienced a decline in popularity during the Baroque period. At this point in time, word "Gothic" meant barbaric, ugly, displeasing etc and the term got attached to the architechture. The orignal term for the style is "Ogive".
Question: Why do the things seen in Gothic architechture appear also in the Goth scene?
Answer: Because during the Romance period of the 19th and 20th centuries, a great deal of macabre and mysterious literature appeared. The term "Gothic" became associated with the spooky and ominious feel of this literature, because Gothic architechture is spooky and ominious.
