i think not only aphex twin, but the entire warp label. using RDJ as a *standard* isnt right though. RDJ has a style and technique to make music uniquely his own. using his humor and playground-type beats as a standard is only going to result you in being a big warp label whore.
and wreck, in terms of radio shows, which i also do, i also think of the audience, and also how it mixes. techno might as well have a hundred different sub genres to it, and instead of naming them, you can just tell by the sound. how are any "underground" songs going to mix in with crystal meth (i know they seem like my fave punching bag, and they are) without sounding like the DJ's gone haphazard?
growth. if you have a steady radio show, play what you know, and the musical mindset you know, and expand into new territory until you have enough for another whole show, and keep digging after that.
but this isnt even arguing about music anymore, it's leaned heavily into personal musical opinion of how a radio show should progress, ferchrissakes....
do what you want.
