An enjoyable read, for the most part. A psychoanalyst receives a threatening letter from a mysterious stranger. The doctor apparently did something bad to this person in the past, and this person wants revenge. So he gives the doctor a choice: Discover the person's identity within two weeks, and he's a free man. If he can't meet the deadline, he can either commit suicide, or the stranger will kill or ruin all of the doctor's relatives, one by one.

The premise is great, and there are some fun plot twists. It's somewhat unbelievable the way the story plays out, but, as I said, it's fun. The one major complaint I have about this book is that the dialogue is some God-awful shit. I mean, worse than a really bad B-movie. Katzenbach is very skilled at narration and description, but the dialogue stinks worse than an airtight room full of chili cook-off judges after a three day contest. Buy it in paperback.
