I went and saw Moore speak last night as part of his "Slacker Uprising" tour. I know, but the tickets were only five dollars and i figured that's not too expensive for a couple hours of entertainment.

I must say, he has a power to appeal to the "common" (read stupid) democrats. He presented Kerry as if he is the ultimate saviour of America. He oversimplified the issues and resorted to demagoguery to get his point across.

He was heckled the whole time by a rather small group of college republicans (perhaps 100 of them among a crowd of 15,000). He becamed annoyed with them rather quickly and even told them at one point to "shut the fuck up". I was extremely disappointed in him, while they were disruptive and rather rude he should have just ignored them. Several of them were escorted out when they got a little rowdy.

There were a few good moments, such as when he read a letter from a soldier stationed in Iraq. But still, his constant self aggrandizing detracted from his message.

At one point he encouraged the crowd to pirate Farenheit 911 but i couldn't help but think that if he was serious about this he would offer it for download from his website instead of selling it and incouraging people to rip and burn it.

Overall he was effective at rallying the masses, but anybody with some insight could see how shallow and weak his arguments were.

Even while i agreed with his essential message i couldn't help but feel contempt for this annoying little whiner. I am really sad that this guy is on my side.

I doubt you even went to the damn thing.

You get 10 pts for 'demagoguery' though

He did have his new book ("Dude where's my country" I think, but I'm not sure) online for free though, I think. Maybe because DVDs are easier for people to burn themselves?
