Those lazy welfare people should get off their butts and get a job.

"Wal-Mart workers' reliance on public assistance due to substandard wages and benefits has become a form of indirect public subsidy to the company," said the report issued by the University of California, Berkeley Labor Center.

People have already started wondering if Wal-Mart is going to close the outlet, but it would be illegal for them to do so under Canada's labour laws, if my memory serves me correctly. Employers can't engage in retributive action due to unionization, because there's a lot of government officials that have to send their kids to college and fines against big companies can be pretty hefty.

Wal-Mart said yesterday that they only close stores for "economic reasons."

Yeah. 'economic reasons'. Like having to pay their staff a living wage once they unionize.
